It will be interesting to see whether the liberal media, having slobbered all over former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill's "red meat" attacks on President Bush, will pay as much attention to the fired Cabinet official's follow-up remarks.

Interviewed yesterday on NBC's "Today" show, O'Neill said that despite the harsh criticism of his former boss, he will "probably" vote for Bush in November. "I don't see anyone who is better prepared or more capable," he said.

I thought O'Neill was old and rich and didn't care.

Back in 1998, Congress - by a near-unanimous vote - passed the Iraq Liberation Act, which declares it the policy of the United States "to support efforts to remove the regime headed by Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq and to promote the emergence of a democratic government to replace that regime."

"I thought O'Neill was old and rich and didn't care."

No, O'Neill is just shallow, ego driven and still bothered that he got fired. When he gets hit with the truth, he is like the schoolboy who just realized that what he did was really stupid.

Can't believe what a complete idiot O'Neill obviously appears to be...is this the type leadership that succeeds to the top of a Fortune 300 Corp? God help us if so.

O'Neill apparently now realizes that his criticism of the White House - eagerly seized by the president's Democratic foes - was way off target.

Those foes seem to be the press. They eagerly seized this bit of non-info, witness Stahl's breathless amazement that governing is actually going on in Washington.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that a fair share of ceos think like O'Neill. They're like the rock stars and Hollyweird actors who think because they can warble a tune on key or recite their lines correctly that they are geniuses in all areas.

You're talking about people (ceos like O'Neill) with massive egos and tremendous corporate powers who are used to dictating to people and having their decisions followed unquestioningly. Then they go outside their sphere of expertise and expect their success to continue.

O'Neill apparently was a very effective ceo, and that's where he should have stayed. Frankly his comments about the world of international politics and government reveal a person exceptionally ignorant of those matters. Most conservative pundits didn't like him from the start and felt he would be a disaster...and they were so right!

Wait, I didn't see either the 60 Minutes Interview nor the Today Show. Did he take back what he said on 60 Minutes???? That's amazing if true and you're right, we will not hear a squeak from the Press.

Who cares what O'Neill thinks.........

Well, if it's against Bush: Dan Tom, Petah, Wolf, Dianne, Judy, and 90% of big media. Also Howard, Al, Wesley, Joe, Carol, Dennis, Dick, John F'n, and Breck Girl.
