When I used to teach Rookie Firefighters how to use a chainsaw , I told them its like a shotgun , dont point it where you dont want to cut. You have to be careful with cchainsaws, they are inherently dangerous and no guard has ever been devisd that can protect you.

My brother was in the hospital about 30 years ago and shared a room with a man that took a chainsaw to his face. Not pretty to say the least. He was cutting and it "jumped" up on him hitting him center of the face.
