My brother was in the hospital about 30 years ago and shared a room with a man that took a chainsaw to his face. Not pretty to say the least. He was cutting and it "jumped" up on him hitting him center of the face.

Yes Sometimes Chain saws will "kick".An experienced handler usually is ready for this .It usually comes from starting too close to the end of the blade or when the tree is under upward stress.
