...Poland had hoped that as a reward for its help in the war to topple Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, the United States would relax entry visa rules for its citizens. But Washington toughened travel curbs for Poles and many other nationalities as part of its new anti-terror measures...

Oh, great.

Eight million illegals get a free pass, and a guy who's spent his life fighting Communism and supporting US ideals gets treated like a terrorist?

Many Poles are bitter that the U.S. administration exempts some other European nations from the rules, including those that opposed the U.S.-led war on Iraq, such as France and Germany.

Is this correct?

Gotta side with the Poles on this one. Either fingerprint the French, or leave the Poles alone. Why on earth are we treating France as a trusted ally while ignoring the Poles?

Give the French and German Marxists and Islam-fascists a free pass but fingerprint the anti-communist Poles.

This should be called the "I'm as stupid as I can be" policy.

There are good reasons for this policy, aren't there? After all Poland has 10 Muslims, while France has only 5 million!

Gee, a lot of things I've done required photo & fingerprints; military service, bartender, real estate broker, passport...

Why the heck is he any better?

Hmmm. I think we should remove Poland from the list, and insert France.

Am I mistaken? Isn't France one of the exempt countries from this procedure?

If we didn't exempt Poland then we screwed up. There aren't many countries in the world that have been so loyal to the U.S.

While other EU countries are exempted from the visa requirement, Poland is being singled out.

It does not make sense.

I hope this issue is revisited once Poland becomes a full-fledged member of the EU.

An EU passport is an EU passport.

Since you posted the article, and more important are in a geographical position to know, why is Poland subject to these restrictions?

Israel was placed on the high security list due to the size of their Arab poppulation. I know the regulation didn't say that, but that was the practical effect. What's the deal with Poland, as others have noted France is a higher risk if Arab/Islamic population is the issue.

I wish this wasn't so. President Bush are you listening? These aren't the French, but some of America's True Friends who have been threatened by al Qaeda because of throwing in their fortunes with ours in the present War on Terror.

Polish Heritage Bump.
