In my opinion, the fight is between traditional conservatives and populists that think they are conservatives. The Reagan democrats have mostly become conservatives because of social and defense issues but retain their loyalty to unions, protectionism and isolationism ala Pat Buchannan..

You Libertarians who blame the government for what happened would just like to give bin Laden a hug for teaching us a lesson, right? Who do you think had the responsibility for enforcing immigration laws? Joe 6-pack? NO, the worthless govt. Who has been in bed with the back-stabbing Saudis? All those soccer moms? NO, the state department! Bin Laden wants us out of Saudi Arabia. Well, so do I. I don't give a shit about their flea-bitten kingdom. We can buy oil from whoever owns it. Besides, if it were a bit more scarce, we would develop technology to stretch it out a bit. Do I want to hug Bin Laden? No, I want a bullet between his eyes because he has declared war on the US. That does not excuse the fact that the US has been involved overseas far more than it should be.

and smells to me of RNC damage control.
Have you noticed that all of the media puppets are back to using "now 8 million illegal aliens" in the country? It's been called 14 million for years, but since the proposal was announced we somehow lost 7 million of them.
Yes! Actually, I was hearing "8 million to 12 million" 1 1/2-2 years ago, which would make it at least 9 million to 13 million by now. If we split the difference at 11 mil, and add spouses, children, siblings and parents ("family reunification"), we're talking potentially 50+ million, plus "new" family members, courtesy of the matricula consular, plus tens of millions of new illegals, inspired by the newest amnesty, and anticipating the next one. But that's not the worst of it. As one expert on illegal immigration wrote, the "guest worker" program would be open to 6 billion people -- the entire world!

I am NOT saying, nor even implying that are borders are locked down. But, the LP is in favolre of NO BORDERS;no scrutiny of them at all. That pretty much sounds like status quo, don't you think?

Pat Buchanan is the one of the biggest morones in America. He is just a bitter, bitter loser. People like him will make conservatives lose every election from mayor of the smallest town in America all the way to the Presidency.
To: Nanodik
That does not excuse the fact that the US has been involved overseas far more than it should be. And to teach 3000 innocent Americans a lesson, we should have been bombed? Because we were "involved overseas"?
We are going to be involved overseas, and these towelheads better get used to it. We're in the middle of them, and they're scared to friggin' death. They either get control of their radical elements, or we'll put somebody in place who will.

Well enjoy having France set our defense policy with a President Clark.
And that's worse than having Mexico setting up our immigration policy with a President Bush?

Oh really ? The borders were supposed to be locked down, shut, completely closed, with Reagan's amnesty ? CCP it and prove that egregious codswallop you just posted.
The LP has NO spine, no gonads, and few working brain cells. No ones should give respect to a political party/those who endorse it, when those positions are more than 80% beneath contempt. But then, you don't give the Dems any kind of kudos, from you, and they DO say what they mean too; even follow through, since they have power and the LP never shall have any.
It is oh so easy, to sit back and just spew any old thing, when one knows full well, that one's chance at ever having to prove that you'd follow through with those statements is zero to none.
Look at Islam's growth amongst American blacks and Hispanics; especially those who are or haves been in prison !

"But the question was is who was likely to abuse the executive order." No it wasn't, Slick! That was just one of several questions...and obviously you are not interested in details otherwise you could not even compare Clinton's abuse of power with GWB's undoing of the Clinton PDD's.
Oh, you still haven't answered the other questions...here's your reminder:
"...under whose leadership would it be MORE LIKELY to allow infiltration at the highest levels to defeat us from within...Dean, Hillary...or GWB?
Who will appoint unabashed liberal activist judges to rewrite the Constitution...Dean, Hillary, or GWB?
Who will misuse the military and surrender our sovereignty to the UN and Kofi Annan...Dean, Hillary, or GWB?
Well?

More like drama-queens! I have teenage girls and see it everyday.
It's all about "sending a message", and "I will not be ignored"! And the "punishment" of Bush. It gets the adreneline flowing, the fight, and feeling victimized by policies they disagree with.
Very emotional, impractical, and addicting.
After all, its is awfully boring to actually have to lead, make unpopular decisions, and literally have to please everyone around the globe. Kind of like being parents or a boss.
They DO want a Dem to win, therefore their punishment of Bush is complete.
But, in the end, they actually get nothing but a few weeks of stories on how they, little-ol-they, the vaunted base, got back at Bush!
And watching the swearing in of President Dean/Clark, they know the country is safe, for they still have their conservative principles in tact.

To all of you who are so angry about the President immigration plan, please remember that one of our greatest Presidents, Ronald Reagan, had made a much larger amnesty program for illegal immigrants. Please do not forget this. In regards to the Medicare new law, it was going to happen regardless who is the President. Get realistic my friends and stop attacking President Bush in this crucial election year. Let us all get behind President Bush because we cannot afford to have a Democrat in the White House during the war on terror.
