Black humor serves a purpose. I have been known to use it myself. Sometimes nothing else will break the tension. It also is a coping mechanism when things are too big to handle at once.
The only subject off limits to black humor (in my humble opinion) is 9/11.

Can I please share this? ;)

I consider myself severely chastised, and will now retire and contemplate my vile wickedness.Sackcloth. Don't forget to include plenty of sackcloth.

Man I feel sorry for you on this thread...seems like you were the tension scapegoat here. I've seen what you posted on a gadzillion posts here, unfortunately, I think you didn't realize how series ;) this particular accident was before rushing to be the first.
Try it again on another thread.....who knows it could be a hugh success.

I was wondering how nutty people would be about hoping it was terrorism...At least us D.C. area commuters know that this is a regular thing around here. Cars/trucks upside down on any major interstate that happens to between you and your home, just before rush hour in the evening. Traveling 15 miles around here is starting to take 2 hours on a regular basis. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to the airport (Reagan National) Friday morning due to 1/2 an inch of snow. I-66 closed due to wreck, GW Parkway closed due to wreck...

So when is someone gonna get us some pics!

>>Except there haven't been any "suspicious" truck and bus accidents.
I remember another tanker truck accident 8-10 years ago torching a bridge somewhere around Annandale on the Beltway. I was in DC from out of town, and remember getting stuck in the traffic.
That was terrorists too. ;-)

Prayers going up for all involved.
I hope the toll is not as high as it was last week on I-80 in PA. where six people died.

I landed at BWI at about 2:45 this afternoon. Traffic at the airport was normal. Planes not affected. I don't know when I have seen that much black smoke. At the time I was there no one knew what was happening. I got on a train at the Amtrak station at BWI and went on to DC.

>>There was one about a year or two ago in the Atlanta area that torched an overpass and closed down both that section of the loop road around Atlanta and the interstate it went over.
Yep, that was at the bridge where I-285 goes over GA400. GA400 is a limited-access highway, too. Long time lane closures during the repairs, one lane each way. I live about 5-6 miles from there.

But that's for another thread :)

The man has a point. Faster breaking news here, with more details, than anywhere I know of.

If this is a violation, sorry.

Okay, brief update:
- Statements are being issued to local news media. Keep tuned to radio/TV/cable for the updates.
- Emphasis has been stressed: Air traffic in/out of BWI will NOT be affected by the incident. Ground traffic is already being detoured, but airspace is still normal;
- We'll keep watching this, until first responders report the fires are contained; shoudl be soon, if not already. There's a few minutes delay in catching reports;
- This incident, coupled with the propane truck accident in the same area earlier today, got some heads scratching. First call is, no connection.

Go ahead and post the picture. It's just an excerpt from the story. Links are never a violation. The WPost sued us to make us post only exerpts and links, so it's okay to do what they want.
I refuse to look at their web site.

Yep, that was at the bridge where I-285 goes over GA400. That's the one. I was on a biz trip and my plane got in late, around 10:30 PM. I was in a rental car trying to get to northern Alpharetta. I don't know where I went that night (had no maps (DOH!) and after being forced to get off the hightway got lost someplace called Roswell?) but I didn't pull into the hotel until about 1 AM.
I'm sorry you had to suffer the traffic caused by that accident, living there. It was a mess on my way back to the airport 3 days later, too.
