German Defence Minister Peter Struck has announced that the German armed forces will be reduced in size and in future will focus on crisis management and peacekeeping operations. Troop strength will be cut by 35,000 regulars and 10,000 civilian personnel.
Military hardware will also be adjusted to the new mission. Mr Struck expects to save 26 billion euros, partly through closing down around one hundred army bases.

"Military hardware will also be adjusted to the new mission"
Blue helmets, white Toyota land cruisers with a UN flag on one fender and a white flag on the other, folding chairs and tables, clip boards and packets of gum and lolly pops to hand out.
Were all the Germans with guts killed on the Russian front?

Then we should reduce our profile in Germany significantly...
If they dont need to be prepared then we dont need to be there.

Were all the Germans with guts killed on the Russian front? Not hardly. Don't be alarmed, though, until they begin to come out of their immaculate cottages and start marching in groups on weekends.
