Leftists are struggling to find anyone...
anyone...who will attack the President. Rolling Stone in general, and publisher Jann Wenner in particular is so damn transparent it's not funny.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

But Phillips is no left-wing demagogue. He's not only a lifelong Republican, he's also the guy who literally wrote the book that became the blueprint for the party's dominance of presidential politics.
Good God, they've resorted to rolling out THIS guy? He's as much a Republican as Paul O'Neil. He's been attacking the GOP since 1992/94.

What makes the Bush family so different -- and, in many ways, so dangerous -- is that they've created a dynasty. The second Bush administration is a political restoration, not unlike the English Stuarts in 1660 or the French Bourbons in 1815. In the last election, the Republican Party turned to the eldest son of the Republican who got the boot eight years earlier. That's what this country fought a revolution to get rid of in 1776. Nobody thought that there would be another royal house, with a couple of Georges.
The author is in need of some serious medication!

You mean that they couldn't trot out David Gergen as the token Republican to trash Bush? He must have been busy so Kevin Nobody got the call.

I guess he'd prefer a kindler, gentler economic system. Like the one they have in France.

My God, these people are so spazzed out it's scary. Soros' money must be behind this! A lifelong Republican? Hogwash!

And the Clintooons and Kenedys are not family political dynastys?
Whenever the media wants to bash the GOP they trot out this guy, David Gergen, Pat Buchannan and now Paul O'Neill.
So predictable like the sun rising in east and setting in the west.

Gadzøøks ... they're on to us ...
Increase our payments to Michael Moore and Terry MacAuliffe. They must over-argue this position to the point of idiocy so that the people will view this as simply an off-the-wall conspiracy "tale". C'mon, y'all ... wakey, wakey ... worky, worky. We must advance the agenda of the Unseen/Unknown Overlords.

Kevin Phillips I asked myself, who? Further reading determined that he's an opportunist.
Dang, ya know I could use some cash. Think I'll write a book about what an evil slug President Bush is and all I would have to do is make up the most outrageous lies.
There's a least a couple of hundred kooks out there that would buy it. :-)

But Phillips is no left-wing demagogue.Yeah right /sarcasm
Bush is a big spender who either has dropped many of his conservative principles or never had them to begin with. That's a legitimate criticism of GWB.
But whatever his background may be, what this guy says is nothing but extreme left wing conspiracy boilerplate, with not even a hint of legitimacy.

Listening to Kevin Phillips talk about politics, it's easy to mistake him for a populist firebrand from the 1890s. Oh yes. That would be exactly the first thought that comes to anyone's mind -- "this is an 1890's populist firebrand, of course."

Q: Still, what's so bad about a son succeeding his father as president? A: This type of dynasty is antithetical to the American political tradition.

"holier-than-thou"
I don't recall Bush ever making a statement I would categorize as "holier-than-thou." Phillips is just a bigot who can't stomach a conservative Christian worldview.

"smug conservatism"
If Bush is such a smug, rabid conservative, why do so many conseratives break with him on so many issues?, e.g.:
campaign finance reform
Medicare drug benefit
immigration policy
deficit spending/budget growth
war in Iraq (Buchananite objections to war)
some aspects of Patriot Act
Bush has been a consistent conservative on two fronts: judicial nominees, and upholding American sovereignty. Apart from that, he has often disappointed conservatives.

At least President Bush hasn't imposed wage and price controls like Phillips old boss did.

Saw this guy on CSpam the other night on book notes.
It was a real treat. We can't actually PROVE that Prescott Bush funnelled money to the Nazi's but.......
President Bush (41) owns the CIA, and has all the intelligence lackey's in his back pocket....no, no evidence, I'm just saying......
President Bush (43) the recovering alcoholic has issues with his Daddy.....
So many of the audience at Borders in Wash DC was eating it up.
Oh, by the way, Jeb's son is not Neil P. It is George P. Just one fact that didn't make it by the fact checkers.

There is a real ratings war going on at amazon regarding this book. Check it out and see what the lefties are saying.
