As in previous years, Animal People magazine has published financial information for 136 animal charities, based on analysis of the groups' IRS reports for FY 2002.

Below are the figures for several leading animal rights groups that are working to end hunting, fishing and trapping in America, as presented in Animal People. In parenthesis are the budgets for the immediate past years.

The budgets for most of the groups stayed level or dipped somewhat, but People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) budget grew from $13.5 million to $16.4 million in 2002. The Humane Society of the United States had an even bigger increase in its budget, from $58.8 million to $67 million.

Well I do not mean to insult anyone, and I am glad you are home safe and sound...You know all these posts attacking me like I am the spawn of satan is ridiculous I am not standing on the corner preaching "All Hunters Are GOING TO HELL" I am just saying in MY OPINION there is no need for a sport called HUNTING unless it has a purpose.

If you want to have fun go Bungy jumping or jump out of an airplane for a thrill, I will look at the sites people have given me to see everyone's point of view but I think some Freepers should know many people are agaisnt Sport Hunting, does that mean I am going to get on Jerry Springer or CNN and make some bizarre case NO, I feel it is not necessary to kill animals for enjoyment.

What purpose does it serve?

Well, for me it supplements the food the food that I am able to put on my table. Wild game is much better for you than beef by the way. It also provides many, many hours of companionship and common purpose between my father, my self, and my son.

As for the "heads on the wall". I have been hunting for a little over 30 years and have taken 21 deer (that's probably on the low side in comparison to others on this forum). To date I have put 8 racks up on the wall. Not because I don't enjoy having them up there, I do, but it is not the most important thing. Now that it's on my mind though I think I will try to get a couple more up on the wall this weekend.

What purposes does having heads of Deers, Bears, Cougars and Marlins on your wall other than vanity I am sure this is a "Guy" thing but it is a sport that most can live without...

I'll tell you one great thing about hunting: It ensures that millions of American men have sniper-capable firearms in their possession and that they know how to use them. I sleep better at night knowing that.

The fact that most of these people talk like they live in the middle of Yellowstone Park....

I see Coyotes as well as Cougars an Bears to be a problem out here which they are addressing we have Big Horn Sheep in the Mountains that bother no one and rabbits and squirrels I do not hear the complaints out here like some people talk about where they are living with wildlife.

I have jumped out of airplanes young lady... 65 times (22 AT NIGHT!).. the last one broke my hip and right femur.
Bungee jumping is for nimrods and cheap thrill seekers. There is no skill involved in it... none.
Fun is reading a good book, playing kickball with my son or having a tickle-fight with my wife.
When I'm hunting my soul and mind are at peace... I don't always (in fact I very seldom) kill, the object for me is to be a part of the living system that is nigh on impossible for modern man. I'm not a vegan, so being a herbivore isn't my bag... so I hunt.
You have never done it... you will never understand. You could try moving meditation like Tai-Chi, and that might get you close.
I do however agree with your points about "canned' hunts and other "unsportsman like" hunting practices, but there are many of us who hunt because it fills and satisfies our lives and spririts on many levels.

I also like a good backstrap cutlet and the Super Bowl just isn't the same without venison summer sausage that I harvested my self.

Now you're being silly. Shooting them would be less cruel than putting them through the terror of capture. They are wild animals, after all.

And I HOPE you're not blaming drivers for choosing to hit a coyote rather than risk causing an accident that might kill or injure PEOPLE.

Those activites are not involving the Thrill of the Hunt as in hunting for sport....

If you can judge my freetime activties I can judge yours. There are plenty of animal rights nuts that will take away your right to own a pet cat as well.

I said I agree that the killing of animals for food and for protection and preserving the enviroment is fine if it is done humanely

I try to keep that in mind. But I'm not sure if trappers should be discreet or brazen about their livelihood. PETA and the animal rights crowd have an awful PR advantage.
