And there's nothing they can do to hurt me."They" won't have to do anything. O'Neil "hurt" himself. Good ridance.

Good post. Of course, we were planning on regime change in Iraq well before 9/11. Congress passed a resolution to that effect in 1998. Moreover, we were bombing Iraq almost daily enforcing the Sourthern and Northern no-fly zones. Billions of dollars were being spent every year to carry this policy out with no end in sight. We had thousands of personnel involved risking their lives. Any responsible new administration would have made Iraq a top priority. We needed to lance that boil and Bush, to his credit, had decided to do so.

"They" won't have to do anything. O'Neil "hurt" himself. Good ridance, He sure has .. and that handing over Clasified Documents to a guy writing a book?? ... isn't that against the law?

This guy and men like him do not get to me. The more we know about the govt. the better. Voters are who they should be loyal to. Put it all out and let us think what we wish. All information is colored by our believes any how.

We will probably be seeing similar things from Colin Powell (though not so blatant) after he leaves office and wants to differentiate himself from Bush.Although I disagree with Powell on issues, Colin Powell, unlike O'Neill, is an honorable man.

O'Neil was canned by ALCOA, recycled by the President, but George Bush should have scrapped O'Neil!

I watched the "60 Minutes" piece last night, and I found most of what I heard to be simply not believable. The notion that Bush would talk about tax cuts and make a statement like "didn't we just give a bunch of money to the rich" is utterly preposterous. This sounds to me like something that O'Neill was thinking in his own head at the time.
Also, O'Neill's belief that the Bush trait of giving people nicknames like "The Big O" is just a form of bullying made him come off to me as just a little bit paranoid.

O'Neil's arrogance knows no bounds. Handing over 19,000...
NINETEEN THOUSAND...government documents should be against the law if it isn't. At best, it's incredibly stupid.
Misjudgements galore as well.....going on that trip w/Bono and dressing up in that native garb for photo ops is not within the area of his JOB as presidential cabinet minister...the U.S. Treasury for goodness sakes.
Saying that President Bush only listened to his monologues tells me that the President was doing what he's supposed to do...getting input, and imo Bush was extremely gracious to listen to this meglomaniac, all the time getting his measure and knowing that O'Neil was simply not working out as a member of his team.
Handing out memos on aids at the PRESIDENT'S cabinet meeting was not only tactless but tacky, inappropriate, and ignorant of WHO is the BOSS.
All in all, this grown man, a former CEO, doesn't know squat about competence in the job. His bitterness is all too evident and reveals him to be a little man, not the all-powerful one he thinks he is.

....I would be disappointed if it turns out that we weren't planning for war in Iraq before 9/11. We were there for a decade sitting on that guy, a decade is more than long enough........
Your statement expresses the crux of the matter. Any other course would be ignoring a direct threat to ongoing military operations. There was a shooting war in progress.

Thank, prairie.
My feeling is the administration should do more to get out in front of this story. They probably won't, but they should.

Yeah, IOW, "I don't care if I get investigated or sued".
O'Neil has turned to the dark side. Question really is when it happened.
