BOW Democratic hopeful Joe Lieberman compared his Presidential campaign to the cross-country trek depicted in the movie Forrest Gump.
This a journey, a journey with a purpose, Lieberman said as he stepped in from the cold to speak to a full house at One Putney Road.
People keep joining us, Lieberman said. We can work together to make the future of this great country better and safer than its ever been. That is the journey that Im on.
Its not unusual for Joe to be in the Swett household on an extreme-temperature day, said Dick Swett, explaining that the last time he and his wife, Katrina, hosted Lieberman it was one of the hottest days of the summer. But regardless of the extremes on which Joe chooses to visit us, he is the moderate candidate who can unite the country.
We like Senator Leiberman, but were keeping our options open at this point, said John Hutson of Bow. Andrew Jaffe of Bow said Leiberman has a warmth and an openness and he has experience. Jaffe said he considered himself a moderate Democrat.
Elliot Lasky of Nashua described himself and his wife, Betty, as a Leiberman supporters from the beginning of his campaign. We believe in the guy. Hes honest and straightforward, middle-of-the-road, Lasky said. Hes the only one in the field who can unseat George Bush.
Jim Braver traveled from Newton, Mass., to meet Leiberman. I like the way he sort of holds the middle ground, Braver said. Hes the most believable to me.
Katrina Swett ran unsuccessfully as Democrat two years ago in the 2nd Congressional District. That seat is currently held by Republican Charles Bass. Dick Swett held that office for two consecutive terms during the first half of the 1990s and then ran for U.S. Senate in 96 and lost.
Leiberman said that should he be elected President, he would work his darndest to bring both Swetts to Washington.
Daughter Chelsea Swett, who is studying journalism in the graduate program at Columbia University, said she has been enjoying the Presidential campaigning during her holiday break. You find out a lot more from New Hampshire media in lot of ways, she said of the campaign. Its easier to get access to them here as opposed to New York City, for example.

Al Gore, Bill Bradley, and now even the nasty Harkin have endorsed Howard Dean, so maybe that's their semi-subversive way of thwarting Clinton/McAuliffe's perpetual ownership of the DNC. But it's a no go until democrat senators demolish the lingering stench of the Clintons
It's been like the latest trite, empty headed, celebrity catch phrase! If I hear one more rockstar speak of their journey to sobriety, or one more Hollywood bimbo speak of making a movie as a journey, I'll get drunk myself!
