NASA Television? Question for those who can direct me :)
Posted on 01/10/2004 7:50:58 PM PST by I_love_weather
I was not sure where to post this...forgive me if this is the wrong place.
I know that NASA runs a 24/7 television station.
I know you can watch this on the internet...
I would like to have it on my television set.
What satellite do you have to use to get this?
Does DISH network or Direct TV offer this channel in one of their packages?
I know you can pick it up on the OLD satellite systems where you point and move your satellite. But these are HUGE satellites...if I remember correct.
Anyone that can help me...I thank you ahead of time.
You can email me direct if you like
beaudodson@hotmail.com
or post it here - I know others have asked this question.

My cable company has it. Call your cable provider.

Is that a special charge for that?
I am or was getting Direct TV? They don't have it or do they?
Anyone know?
Also is this a channel on Dish network that is ALWAYS on?

Check with your cable or satellite provider. Many cable systems offer it as on their digital tier; both Dish Network and DirecTV offer it.

I have directTV, and they don't have the nasa channel on it. I used to have choice tv years ago and it was on it then, but I don't even know if choice tv is around anymore.

I am or was getting Direct TV? They don't have it or do they? It's on DirecTV Ch. 376; you have to have a multi-satellite dish to receive it.

It depends what you mean by "always on." There's usually just a NASA logo and music when there's no missions. They run a lot of educational videos and stuff when there's no missions as well.

They run quite a bit in the way of ISS mission coverage during off hours; they also love to show educational programming as well.

I've learned not to depend on what's in the guide when it comes to NASA TV :) It never seems to reflect reality.

I just now tried 376. The channel is not used. Maybe they only air it in your part of the country.

I sure remember. I have a ten footer. On top of a pole. Which is on the peak of my roof. It was fun getting it up there those many years ago.
But it still works, and yeah, that's where I watch my NASA TV. Don't have any idea what mini dish service carries it, but it looks like you have a couple possibilities to try.

NASA has daily updates with a panel and questions every day on C-SPAN for about an hour. They're repeated once or twice throughout the day and archived on their website. They are scheduled for about 9am PST (noon EST) but times usually vary. One is supposed to be on now BTW. http://inside.c-spanarchives.org:8080/cspan/schedule.csp
