BabyNames.com compiles this annual ranking of the top 20 most popular baby names using the favorite name lists created on the Web site by more than 100,000 expectant parents.

In other words, it has no validity whatsoever. I'll wait for Social Security to release their 2003 list of ACTUAL names given to ACTUAL babies.

" If I had a fifth I swear I woulda named him Deuteronomy."

My mother is a retired teacher. She had several students from one family, all of whom had biblical names. I don't remember them all anymore, but two of them were Deuteronomy and Chronicles.

Let's see a sampling of birth certificates. That will tell us what the popular names are, and I predict Mark, Mike John, Bob and Dave are still on the top 20 list.

I agree -- the boys' names here are very different than on the official government list.

They're in for a big shock when they register their kids in kindergarten or preschool and find out how common the names are.

That's when they find out how many other dopey parents are have named their kids as if they were pets.

I wonder where "Alberta" is on that list.

but two of them were Deuteronomy and Chronicles.

I'll bet that was fun when they were in school learning to write their names.

How about just good old 'Bob' like me? Or sensuous 'Roberto' in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese? Are the 'BOB' squads over?

LOL!

Biblical names are good...........makes me really glad that we named our children James, David, and Laura. Our grandchildren also have good names...Anthony, Hope, Elizabeth, Andrew, Aaron. Good strong names. I've told my children that not only do the names have to fit the child, but also the adults they become.
