I was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.....but the finest time of my family's "child raising years", was spent in Huntsville, AL..

My employer sent me there on a temporary assignment to work on the Apollo and Saturn Instrument Units (IU).
We loved the area so much, we pushed our 1yr assignment into 9 years.

My wife and children cried all the way to our next assignment - in California.

Yup. I spent a few years out in your area too, 1967-73. I helped do the National Semiconductor start-up there in Santa Clara. Some very exciting and challenging days.

Heck, I would cry if I had to move from Hell, Texas to California.

(yes, there really is such a place)
