in 1939, Canada was under the Dominian of the British Empire, not an independent country,Wrong. Canada, Australia and New Zealand gained full independence with the passage of the Statute of Westminster c.1931. Prior to that the only authority held by Britain was foreign affairs and the House of Lords was the highest court.

Remember there is an English-speaking country in the Southwestern Pacific that has enough guts to detain all asylum seekers while their cases are processed. A country that has as much untapped resource as Canada, and is unashamedly conservative and pro-US.
That country is Australia. It doesn't matter if Canada turns its back on the United States. At least the Aussies will be with the Americans.
