I wish I could be just as optimistic but believe me, this election is in no way a lock. Was out to dinner the other night with girlfriends - all educated, married, with kids in private school. Five of us - 3 for Dean, 2 for Bush.

Unfortunately, I think all the damage done to Dean will be undone by the endorcement of Tom Harkin.

Damn.

Don't get me wrong, I want Dean to be the nominee, but I want a long, bloody primary first, so in Iowa, I'm rooting for Gephardt.

Yeah, they're showing video of people being arrested in a street protest/riot.

Dean is as wound up as tight as a top! Everyone is waiting for him to crack. Looks like it may be happening now.

I can see that, but can't relate to it. I have heard people say all sorts of things about NY Politics, (I lved in nyc for 34 years or so), and I never took it as a slap to NYCers in particular.

Then again, I would often happen to agree with the unflattering observations.

To me, his comments are reasonable criticisms, certainly debateable, and I don't read them as a slap at Iowans at all. Then again, I can see how they could be construed that way.

Wait and see - I still see this as a big nothing. Too bad the media doesn't!

Did anyone but me notice that he said "feeful" instead of "people"? Like his mouth was so dry his lips stuck to his teeth. And that machine-gun spray of words all around the questions...all the while, the eyes are darting...

I wonder who stole his strawberries...

What's the margin of error on a poll like that?

If God didn't want there to be asinine comments during the 2004 election season, he wouldn't have made Howard Dean.

Well, I guess he's not as breaking news as he thinks he is! Hopefully we'll get an update if his head explodes and blows memorized soundbytes all over the reporters.

HAHA! I hope the same thing....that we get an update, that is. Not the part about the head exploding with soundbytes. At least I don't think I hope that...

Maybe I do...naw....that would be too much like....fun...

His handlers really won't let him comment on many things anymore

That's because he tends to say to much

One thing I have noticed with Dean is that he will say what he is suppose to say .. but when pushed with questions ... he'll say what he really thinks

And That is why he gets into so much trouble

You mean with Carl Cameron? I didn't catch all of it, though I wouldn't be surprised if Hume has it on his show tonight (6 pm EST). Howie'd been ducking the press, and i gather Cameron was lying in wait in a corridor and asked Howie about his comments about the caucus. Howie said something like he didn't say it, then when pressed again, said something along the lines of that it was true four years ago. I was so busy laughing at Howie's expresssion that I missed the details. Try Hume's show tonight. I bet they air that bit again.

He tried that with FNC's Carl Cameron. It didn't work too good.

Is that when he said something like, "I didn't say that, and besides I've grown since I said that?"

Doncha just love it?
