That cartoon would have been very appropriate in Delaware following Hurricane Isabel.........oh the screaming and moaning they did because they were without power for a few days.

From an article in the Delaware paper about yesterday's bitter cold.
Members of the 153rd Military Police Co. stood in the biting wind for hours Saturday while pulling guard duty outside Gunning Bedford Middle School, where the fifth annual Delaware National Guard Leadership Conference was held.
The troops recently completed a lengthy deployment in the broiling heat of Saudi Arabia. The irony was not lost on Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala, Delaware's adjutant general.
"As a reward for being in Saudi Arabia last year, we put the 153rd outside,'' he said with a smile.

The only New Year's Eve I stayed up for was 2000 because I was a Y2K wacko and expected a terrorist attack at any moment.
I had been the butt of family jokes for the past two and a half years. Just before midnight, my brother, in another state, called to check on my Y2k preparations.
He told me he had his: a 6-pack of beer and a large bag of potato chips.
I have to admit, family members were very kind to me post-Y2K and didn't torture me TOO much.

LOL!!!!
We don't do New Year's Eve. Our tradition has been to go out on New Year's day and heckle all our friends that are green with hangovers!!!!
NY day hangovers are understandable when one is young and dumb - but I'm talking about supposed adults in their 40s and 50s!!!

Must be a Utah thing, but this doofus didn't get it.
Please explain.
(Gabz is laughing hysterically, but she's smarter than me, or else she's just pretending that she got it.)

Usually, we're waist deep in snow on New Years... it's a perfect time to set off fireworks. The kids look forward to it... a few beers and a bag of chips for mom and dad sounds about right.

Those were very similar to the complaints against Conectiv about the outages in northern Delaware after the hurricane.
That's the only reason I understood the intent of the cartoon.

It was kind of spooky... about 40 houses in my area were without power for 5 days... with the temps around 15.
We had our neighbor's kids sleeping on our floor, loaned out emergency equipment, batteries, flashlights, lanterns... some folks just packed up and lived with relatives for the duration.

I still don't know what the beach ball on the spear is supposed to be, but don't want to ask.
Might think I'm stupid, or something.

I still don't know what the beach ball on the spear is supposed to be, but don't want to ask. That one I understand because my Dad use to work for the Philadelphia Electric Company ..
It's a graphic of the electric dude they use to use as a logo years ago
I don't know if they still use it ..but I remember seeing it all the time when I was little
