It's pretty obvious that it's a hole and not a shadow. I can even see holes in the hole... LOL
To: LPM1888
Interesting... I do stand corrected in my interpretation of this being a shadow. Natural in creation, but you have gotten my attention!
Friends, that is all that I ask. Show me the raw data!

The hole may or may not be that deep into the rock however.

I believe Orion78 is pulling the pictures from NASA's servers and they are available to everyone. Several people seem to be having problems accessing the pictures because NASA's servers are overloaded but I doubt anyone anticipated the amount of user demand. This problem will probably be solved later.
None of us know what is causing the square area on the rock but so far I haven't seen anything to cause a shadow. Have you seen the pictures in post #369? Nothing on those pictures seems to show a cause for the square area. Possibly it is just a discoloration of the rock but it is interesting whatever the cause. Possibly a later picture will show a cause for a shadow but so far I have not seen any that have.

Once again, you have convinced me as this being an actual hole in a rock.
This is what science is all about. If I am wrong, I will immediately admit it, as I have just done.

After looking at some photos from the other posts, it's clearly not a shadow. Do you suppose it's where the handle goes? All kidding aside, these photos are fantastic. Why aren't they on the news?

"Why aren't they on the news?" That's kinda what we've all been wondering!
Also, there are other images even more fascinating...
To: Hunble
For the record, I have never stated this IS something more than a natural creation. In fact, if you go back and read my posts, you will find that one of the first things I asked was how could this be created from a completely natural process.

I admit, I judged you wrong. There are so many people that have no education in science, that you have a 90% chance of always demonstrating how stupid they are.
Orion78, you have provided your factual evidence and it can not be disputed. This is what science is all about
I stand corrected and will now watch your future postings with a much higher respect.

No, but if I did my homework right, this rock has been unofficially named "Sushi" by NASA. If that is correct, then the rock is only an inch high.
Please see post #326 for more details. Keep in mind I do not know for sure that I have placed the correct names with the correct rocks. It is basically a best guess based on scant descriptions from numerous news articles.

Ok, here is a quick one for now. Notice the honeycomb structure and how you can see the tops of additional holes before they disappear into the soil below.
Or maybe it's just small rocks in a light patch of soil but I don't think so.
To: clamper1797
Correction:
"Sashimi" is an inch high. There are no measurements give for "Sushi" aka "Rectangle Hole Rock". However, I will post an image of "Sashimi" and "Sushi" shortly and you Freepers out there can take a guesstimate.
