Black slaves in the South knew where their bread was buttered, and I'm not surprised at this. Second of all, not every black in the South was a slave. Third of all, many white and black people were genuinely friends and wasn't a case of 'knowing their place and that's how they were friends'. I believe slavery would have ended on its own, either that or if people had been left alone and not be meddled with by carpetbagger libs from the North things would have advanced faster. Oh well...but that's just my opinion.

There has been some great research and discoveries on the black men who fought for the Confederacy. North and South magazine ran a great article last year (?) dispelling the many of the myths.
Great men such as HK, Hervey, Winbush, and untold others have traced their proud heritage across the South. We honor those men and the forefathers at the table. For their service we are thankful, their courage is strong.

Thanks Stainless.
I only became aware of these men by reading on my own. They were never mentioned in any of my history books from grammar school through college.

It goes to show that history is more complex and more interesting than liberal ideologues would have you believe.

Irish born Confederate General Patrick Cleburne urged acceptance of black troops into the Confederate army relatively early on in the war. Had Richmond listened to him the map of the US might be very different today. The fact is that the official southern acceptance of black soldiers came much too late, after the war was lost.
To those liberals wanting to outlaw the stars and bars: Sit down and shut up. You don't know history and you don't know what you're talking about.....
