Spot on, Doc.

Let's just hope Congress trashes this thing.

Call your Congressman!

No need to as I believe he received a copy along with a host of others.

Doc, can you supply an address for Vincente Fox?

Given the current situation, it is amazing that so many conservatives believe that illegal aliens and their employers are suddenly going to abide by the conventions of this new program.

This legislation proposed by Bush is going to be good for the American ecomomy and should be supported. What it does is create a new source for temporary labor.

Many franchises & factories would like to use immigrant labor, but are unwilling to risk problems with the INS. (Companies such as McDonalds, Wal-Mart or Kraft.) An added bonus is this bill would REQUIRE that immigrants return home after the visa expires in order to apply for a new one. Thus, it guarantees that by the time workers start to demand better pay, they have to leave.

We can expect labor costs for these companies to lower significantly...thus passing the savings to the consumer and increasing stock-holder dividends.

Let's not critisise Bush for helping to lower labor costs for our nations biggest employers, it only helps the Democrat party, Socialists and other enemies of America.

There is nothing more permanent than a temporary worker.

Forget conservatives for a minute. I'm amazed that anybody believes that illegal aliens and their employers are suddenly going to abide by the law. (Especially anybody old enough to remember the fiasco of the 1986 amnesty.)

The native born American population is, I think, declining. Or at least forcast to do so.

So what would this country look like in 75 years if we put up a huge fence in the desert and prevented any significant immigration?

My guess is, that as the population aged, and our economy shrank, it would soon go into permanent depression. Our grandchildren would live about as well as our grandparents lived in 1910.

I believe that the best way to keep an economy growing is to continue to allow working people into this country.

My only beef is that I think we should allow Europeans an equal shot at coming here. And EVERYBODY needs to learn and speak English, and be Americans.

Maybe because it's a "Republican" program. My guess is that most of the Freepers in favor of this lunacy would be howling holy terror if it were a Bill Clinton proposal.

I'd bank on it. (snicker) At least then we'd all be considered principled "purists".
