[history]
Watch your makeup compact, Hillary, Florida's Katherine Harris may have her eyes on the United States Senate, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
MORE
Against the apparent wishes of senior Bush strategists, Harris has decided in her heart and mind that she will seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate seat, sources close to Harris tell DRUDGE.
"She wants it, wants it badly!" a top source said Thursday. "She'll make her decision public within the next week."
The source, who has daily contact with Harris, cautions the congresswoman still could hold back and not make the run, in deference to the president and his brother's wishes.
Sarasota County's GOP chairman, Tramm Hudson, said he spoke to Harris Tuesday night and that she seemed ready to run, according to reports. Harris continues to be one of the party's top fund-raisers.
Elsewhere, Texas Senator Kay Hutchison has reportedly advised her republican counterpart to "Go for it!"
If elected Harris would join a select group of women ever to serve in the United States Senate.
MORE Harris advisers dispel any notion that bad blood still runs in Florida over Harris's role in the 2000 election drama.
"Look, Governor Bush handily won re-election last year, after 2000, and the state's voters did not punish him," notes one top Harris strategist who asked not to be named.
"And they will not punish Katherine. The senate campaign will be on the issues, and electing the best person to represent Florida in the senate!"

Uh-OH, looks like its another Arnold vs McClintock FR fight Why don't some of you people get Hillary to change her party to republican? That way the media would love your candidate, it woukd not energize the dems against your candidate, and all that matter is that your (r) candidate wins...right?

Wow, you bet thanks! What a cutie-pie. 'Cowgirls Rule' (I just bought my 3 yo granddaughter a tee-shirt that says that.
Anyway back to the topic of the thread;
1) I don't understand the 'ungrateful White House' comment. Why or when was the WH ungrateful? 2) Back in 2000, I found all the comments by the leftist media hacks about her looks and make-up to be patently offensive. I find her an attractive woman for 'her age' - NO offense meant by that. 3) I think she CAN win and WILL make a great Senator. 4) It sure will take some of the spotlight off Hildebeast, aka PIAPS, aka Satan's Daughter, aka Hitlery AND... 5) She will add to getting that minimum magic number of 60 senators to stop the unconstitutional tactics of the demoncRATS(sic). And actually we'll need about 63 or 64 do to the RINO's.
BTW, just to inform, the nick PIAPS means Pig-In-A-Pant-Suit

Why doesn't the White House want her to run?

Whatever she chooses, I'm for her. I don't think she'll mess it up for Martinez or any Republican, so either she really is thinking about it based on sound advice and information, or Drudge is wrong. Time will tell. I have to confess I think it would raise her profile even higher and I'd like to see it.

Everyone thought the Dems would beat Jeb Bush because of the 2000 election too. Oh really? When was this?

Great! She'll be a lot better than Rove's candidate.

This story is totally incorrect. I have close friends, who I speak with on a daily basis, and work with on a weekly basis, at the highest levels of her organization.
She will NOT run for Senate. She realizes she is an 11 month Congresswoman who would energize every Democratic vote in the state. Her photograph next to Bush's as they campaigned together, as they would have to, would be a red flag every time it ran on TV or in a newspaper.
That would sink the Senate race, and the possibly Presidential race in Florida.... and remember, success in 2004 runs down I-4.
The Prez needs more votes than the Republicans. He needs the undecides, and sorry to say, right now, Katherine drives them away in droves. Give her time, and she can win a Senate race, but in this Presidential year, it is poison for everyone.
This story is wrong. There is no such consideration. It is an old trial balloon story, and is way past time, and completely wrong..... and we should all be very thankful of that.

I'm sure you find the resultant likelihood of the Democrats keeping their FL Senate seat equally endearing.
Katherine, babe, I love ya.... but for God's sake stay the hell out of this race.

I certainly hope you are right. It would be really disappointing if it turned out she was as stupid as making this run would be.
To: B Knotts
Well, your implication that Harris is at odds in any way with GWB or Jeb Bush is complete and utter nonsense.
I see someone with contacts says this is not true, but it would not be because "The Bushes" told her not to, you can be sure.
Good grief.

Think for how the left will bring up (aka attack) her involvement w/ the 2000 election.
