It scared more than the daylights out of me - but I don't use that kind of language when posting here.
But it was not as scary as the time we were both rudely awakened by what sounded like a bowling ball going down the stairs. 1:30 in the morning she was thirsty and so decided to go downstairs to get some milk on her own. She was barely 3, missed a step and jax went tumbling down.
Hubby was down for 3 days because he lost his balance racing down the stairs and was afraid of landing on her so threw himself over the side of the stairs and wrenched his knee. She was giggling at daddy laying on the floor. And when I scooped her up all she said to me was "I wanted milk."
After I checked her for injuries (none) I took care of daddy....then she got her milk.

A fall down a flight of stairs is how I fractured my skull when I was 5.

Oh wow ...
We have a gate at the top of the stairs that the kids when they were little, couldn't get open.
I would listen to stories from other parents and I would do things around the house to try and keep them safe.
I didn't alway succeed .. once Jessie was playing around with the basement door and didn't listen to me to stop. .. she ended up doing a cartwheel down a flight of step.
Needless to say .. the door came off and went in the attic .. along with my coffee table and a whole bunch of other stuff
