I put rintense's graphic first, to remind us topside why this thread exists, on the day of the Great Unveiling of President Bush's plan for Congress to consider on dealing with illegal immigrants.

A gentle word to the wise: flame wars on this forum, and most recently singled out, flame wars on how to deal with illegal immigration, are not seen with favor by the forum owner. Anyone who chooses to start a fire on the subject on this or any thread could find himself inhaling the flames alone, as posting privileges can be revoked if one engages in personal attacks, or other flame-like behaviors. A civil, flame-free and fact / opinion-based discussion of the topic is certainly appropriate.

Now, to the day's business.

The President proposed a new temporary worker program to match willing foreign workers with willing U.S. employers when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs. The Bush administration on January 6, 2004 selected three companies to design options for protecting U.S. commercial airliners from the threat of shoulder-fired missiles. The Homeland Security Department said it was prepared to negotiate preliminary contracts worth $2 million each with teams led by Northrop Grumman Corp., bankrupt United Airlines and the U.S. unit of Britain's BAE Systems Plc.
