What is your source for that, I'd like to read it.>>>>>>>

I realize this bill came to GWB as 'voluntary', but thats also the way he signed it in.

Just more proof that 'not many' of our electeds are serious about cracking down on illegal employers. Time & effort into passing new laws, complete with the usual loopholes.

That is a bill that has already passed. It has nothing to do with the bill that hasn't even been written.

Right, GWB signed this in Nov. 2003........A nation wide "verification hot- line" for employers to match new hire SS #'s.

However, it is 'voluntary', if anyone in DC was serious about 'tracking' illegals, or anyone mis-using SS#'s, they would have made this MANDATORY for employers to use.

Did I say anything about a bill that's 'to be written' ??

Saber, do you have a source for this?

Yeah, but I was posting off the top of my head, and got the numbers a little jumbled...

There are upwards of 400,000 individuals who have received final deportation orders that are hiding in our communities. Their appeals have run out, and those orders tell them, “it’s time to go.” But, the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement can’t find them! What’s worse, 80,000 of those people have criminal convictions, just like Miguel Angelo Gordoba! They were in the hands of our law enforcement. Can you imagine opening the doors of our prisons and letting 80,000 criminals run back into the streets? Well folks, that’s exactly what has happened with these 80,000 criminal aliens.

What’s more, 3,800 of those people with final deportation orders are from countries with a known Al-Qaeda presence.

The CLEAR Act of 2003

So, my big error was stating that there were 60,000 deportable Illegals from Al Qaeda contries, and 6,000 known terror symps. Sorry about that. There are 80,000 depoertable hardened criminal Illegals, and 3,800 from Al Qaeda countries.

To give you an idea of the progress we've made in this area since 9/11...

The Justice Department's decision to track down and deport 6,000 Middle Eastern aliens who've been ordered to leave the country attracted howls of protest from all the usual places earlier this week. The government has a list of more than 300,000 deportable immigrants.

"That sounds great except you haven't dealt with how they are going to enforce a new proposal when they can't seem to enforce the current policy. Who is going to hand out all these jail terms and fines and so forth?"

Wrong question. It is not "who" will enforce it but "how," and the difference between the new Bush plan and the old status quo is that 8 million illegals will have *registered* with the government...something that they have not done so far to date under the old system.

Once registered, they will be tracked and punished should they offend our country's rules.

Umm, it was the right question. I specifically asked "how" first. Read my post. And you still didn't answer how.
LOL
