Homeland will be more secure when we can account for those who enter country.

I was making $18 hour as a house painter in Michigan... they were paying $2 an hour to illegals for this work in Los Angeles....If thats the case, then wouldn't there be upward pressure on wages if companies hiring undocumented workerswere penalised severely?

Watching this speech is making me sick. He says our immigration policies are not working. Ofcourse not!! They are not enforced! All this boo hoo talk about how hard it is on them just getting here and how they are afraid to report crimes, etc is totally lost on me. THEY ARE CRIMINALS!!

**So is Bush saying that us legals are lazy? **
How many Americans would willingly do migrant work?

He didn't run on a platform of militarizing the border, either.

Now if Bush finished his comments with, "Oh and by the way, to make this work, we must institute and National Sales Tax so that these new documented workers can pay their fair share," then I'd consider it. This is really terrible policy and I am so disappointed with him for this. =(
How can he be so astute and strong on foreign policy and then PANDER in such a disgusting manner?

And that would make my orange juice very very pricey!

Sighhhhhhhhhh,, maybe later when I can home i can filter out the riff raff and get to what he actually said. Oh please. This "Live Thread" is no different than any other one.
You always have to filter through 50 chaff replies to get to the 5 wheat ones.

Temporary workers will be able to establish their identity with legal documents we take for granted.
To: Miss Marple
Over the generations we have received optimistic pepople from every part of the world. By tradition and by history we are a welcoming society. Every generation of immigrants has reaffirmed assimilating newcomers.
Illegals aren't immigrants, they're tresspassers and burglars.

To: Age of Reason
If illegals didn't undercut American workers, migrant labor would pay a living wage. Exactly. This way is really just slavery-lite.
