Why the ban on criticism of Bush on here? I voted and worked for his campaign for 2 years. He is screwing us today. Yet my comments are removed?

I too voted for Bush the first time around, and campaigned HEAVILY for Bush/Cheney. The daily betrayals of conservatism (and indeed, our constitution) have really hit me hard. I truly thought that I was working to elect a conservative.

I thought that a GOP majority in House and Senate and a GOP president would usher in a new age of conservativism. But this amnesty proposal is a slap in the face to not just conservatives, but every American citizen.

You ask why the ban on criticism, and your comments being removed. It's the same reason both new and old-time FReepers are suddenly being banned, and we've been warned not to be too controversial on immigration threads. It's the same reason people who speak out for conservative principles are being labeled DU trolls, and attacked for raising legitimate concerns. You know the reason.

Well - I for one admire your willingness to speak your mind. Please keep it up.

Taglnes censored, anti-Bush decision narratives censored...methinks I'm in Hollywood. Perhaps I should get my contribution back.
Well censor this. I WILL NOT BE VOTING IN THIS ELECTION THANKS TO BUSH'S IMMIGRATION POLICY. Cut off my nose to spite my face?? I USED to think that. No more. No more traitorous decisions by so-called conservatives and republicans. Bush, as much as I love what you have done to protect our country, YOU SOLD OUT.

And of course, there is always the question of, what will it cost????

If you see some red in the distance out in Howell, it's my face while I think about all the costs.

Paperwork, administation, court hearings, lawyer fees, clerks, INS, etc. That's not covering the state level costs, and the likely 'fee' increases on driver's licenses and the like to cover it. :(

You keep viewing the proposed changes in the current paradigm, so you can't see anything beyond your own view. This is evidenced by the fact that you keep referring to "illegals" and the fact that they can't earn enough, etc. This program is proposed to change the paradigm - these will be people here legally, within the system, and with requirements they have to meet to stay here. If illegal immigration continues despite this change, it would be a problem, and should be dealt with severely. But you are viewing this proposal through a very biased prism.

Ever hear a descriptive definition of insanity? Your comment above fits it.

I don't know many Americans who want to exchange the integrity of this country's legal system, culture and sovereignty for cheaper vegetables.

We have been doing it for years though. I do know what you are saying but in order to come to grips with this problem I think the solution needs to be pragmatic. Going forward I would not support anything that didn't include stict enforcement of the law.

This is a Republican forum.

You're correct, it is a Republican forum.

It used to be a conservative site.

AND it is the same argument made by the FreeTraitors on other threads.

"If we don't throw American workers out of work...and go to China...just THINK how much a car would cost!!!"

Yeah. But US citizens would be able to afford one.

How does deporting people wo are here illegally translate into some snide Hilter comparison. Gee, that's original. Where did you pick that up? DU.

Bush is the man. The man who is putting the final nails into the coffin of this once great country.

Jobs are created by economic policies that allow entrepreneurs to create them...not immigrants legal or otherwise. The economic pie and its accompanying employment is not limited by increasing population but is in fact the result of it. Immigrants create and have always created jobs whether legal or otherwise. We are all the descendants of immigrants who respect economic growth and the improvement in the quality of life that results.

I don't disagree completely but the problem is undercutted when the rules of the game are different(why I oppose GATT and NAFTA and DESPISE outsourcing of jobs outside the US). Now, MUCH of the problem is the amount of regulations our businesses have. It's improved in Michigan under Engler, but it's still a high tax state. Now I can't compete with illegals for jobs. The main reason isn't even as much min wage as it is the PAYROLL TAX and other regulations.

I have no problem with legal immigration, and take my hat of to any especially that start their own businesses. One side of my family became millionaires in the meat business during in the early 1900's, until the depression hit. THAT is what should be encouraged.

My work product is knowledge, and an unskilled worker could simply not step into my shoes without years of education and experience.

Tell that to the High-tech employees with college degress and years of experience whose job is either in India or being done by an H1b worker.

Let's see if such vile garbage coming from a pro-illegal/BushBot poster results in immediate ZOT-ing, as we've seen so many times used against those on the other side.

Yeah, it will pass--but NOT because Congress represents the people who elected them.

Let's see how far we get with determining that going forward, the self-employed should only contribute THREE percent to Social Security instead of 15%.

What the hell-we'd get all the 'cash-only' SE's in the country to sign right up, right? We'd ID them for future reference. We'd know everything we needed to know.

No more 'cash under the table/bartering' schemes for these characters.

Like that plan, Arne? Because you pay the difference in YOUR Social Security contribution, just like Californians pay it in their hospital bills.

Ditto here. I was a volunteer, on the ground, for Bush/Cheney and organized election fiasco protests against Sore Loserman. Now, I'm wondering what the heck I worked so hard for. I feel betrayed.

Agree, this is insanity. Illegal immigration is already a major problem. We don't even know how many are here with USG estimates ranging from 8 to 15 million. The number could be even higher. We can't absorb everyone who wishes to come here. We need to be able to control the numbers.

Mexico has a population of of almost 100 million people. 33% of the population is under 15 years of age compared to 21.7 % for the US. Mexico's crude birthrate per 1,000 pop. is 22.2 compared to our 13.1. Mexico's GDP per capita is $5,860 compared to the US $34,940. The bottom line is the economic pressure for Mexicans to come to the US will continue to increase, which will strain our infrastructure and change our culture.
