so don't vote if you don't like the choices. go to Cuba and live...there you don't have to make a hard choice at all.
To: ravingnutter
The proposal set forth by the President will have to be debated in Congress. The one Republican bill I saw said there would be a $1500 fine for breaking the immigration law and these people would be put at the back of the line. I don't see how that equates to amnesty. Is anyone going to be deported, or pay in any way, for having violated U.S. immigration law? No. That's a de facto amnesty.
Just because you can still be punished for future violations of the law, when you have been forever absolved from your past infractions, you have indeed been granted amnesty.

I guess the millions of Americans who have lost jobs over the last two years are just lazy How many of them are picking fruit?
To: Rebelbase
Whatever.
I'll discuss and debate in as heated a fashion as you wish. That is not what was going on and I reject your defense of the inane.

Sen. Liberman. He is going to give Bush a run for his money. That is my prediction. He would, but the Democrats prefer a candidate who foams at the mouth, and Liberman is too reasonable. He has ZERO chance at the nomination.
You have always had an anti- Constitutional stand in any discussion with me
Don't take disagreement for being "anti-Consitution."

The guest worker program worked well. Unfortunately, it was forced out of existence by Cesar Chavez and the United Farmworkers Union goons.

Those opposed to what the President proposed seem to be louder here, but from reading a large portion of this thread I think there are more in support. As it should be.

President Bush is not only attempting to reform immigraiton by legalizing the millions who are already here but doing it wisely in the economic sense. Let's open the damn floodgates while we're at it, why don't we?
I'm breaking my damn neck looking for a job; more than half of them (at least in my field) are being outsourced offshore.
Then I have to listen to a president that I'm supposed to agree with tell me that there are jobs that Americans won't do; He practically slaps American workers and employers both in the face with it. He insults our intelligence by talking about how "brave" these "undocumented workers" are. Call 'em by their actual name: ILLEGALS.
Save your breath..."eleni"s pom-poms are making too much noise, and the pitter-pattering heart at GWB drowns out reason...after all, YOU are to blame for your job sitch...right?
Yeesh! Methinks said FReeper has NO IDEA who you are!

I don't understand any of your points That's because you appear to lack any ideological basis for deciding whether something ought to be legal or illegal.

"My grandmother came here from Germany when she was in her late 30's, she never spoke a word of German to me. Only English. My father learned English when he came here at the age of 17, never heard more than a word or two of German in my house growing up."
Too bad. Being bilingual is an excellent skill.
To: FredTownWard
"Could you really stomach gunning down innocent, men, women, and children at the border?" Innocent people don't break into other people's homes. That makes them anything but innocent. They should be prevented from turning the nation forever into a socialist democracy, by any means neccessary.
What you promote is not disuading them at all from crossing and I don't think it would take much persuading for them to stay home. Just because they are ignorant does not make them not dangerous to the survival of the Constitution and the nation as a Democratic Republic. I have my own kids to think about and what will happen to them in a socialist nightmare, knowing full well that no socialist government ever succeeds.
Your tear jerker compassion certainly lies in the wrong direction, you should turn around and look at your own kids and what their future will be when illegals are finished inflicting their damage on your kids future.
To: Sloth
No it's because I am reasonable in trying to find a solution whereas you are not.
To: MineralMan
Too bad. Being bilingual is an excellent skill Ironically, I lived there later in life and learned the language to a decent extent. But I agree on the premise.

Hey loser, moron, did you know that the Catholic Church and Catholic priests put the entire Bible together.
Yes its really true. The Catholic clergy got together and decided which books were inspired by God and put them together in the Bible. It is our Bible but we will let you use it.
