This is the same argument plantation owners in the south made on behalf of slavery and its effect on the price of cotton.Outstanding point.

"Try reading the Word. ALL OF IT. Speaking while waiting on some priest to interpret the Word for you is ALSO unbiblical. But don't listen to experience, so you can repeat the mistake of your peers." AGAIN I ask, "read the word" out of which Bible?
The King James Version?
The Martin Luther Version?
The Catholic Version?
The Latter Day Saints Version?

You need to get a life. You must hate everything and everybody that disagrees with you. So sad....

If one had told a returning vet from WW II that abortion would be legalized in less than 30 years he would have thought you were suffering shell shock. My point being that your claim that "some crimes will never be legalized" is bupkis.

The reason we have so many illegals is because we abandoned the guest worker program. A lot of the people here would have been happy to abide by the guest worker programs of the 60's.
Well, they are here. What we are doing is telling those who are honorable workers that they should apply for this program. Those who do not will eventually be deported (depending on how much manpower we have); those who apply will be like guest workers.

It is the conservative humane approach to dealing with a runaway problem. I have a very hard time understanding how it's conservative to introduce millions of new welfare consumers and criminals to the US, or humane to burden citizens with additional crime, taxes, ruined schools, overwhelmed hospitals, etc., etc.
It is indeed a runaway problem, caused by our governments' refusals to enforce our laws.
Most illegals are hard working respectable Christians...
Even were that true, that's not the question. Huge numbers of them are mass consumers of taxpayer paid social services. Whether or not they work, they're subsidized by taxpayers. They are tax consumers and we don't need any more of those.

Even by your definition, this is a de facto amnesty. The proposal set forth by the President will have to be debated in Congress. The one Republican bill I saw said there would be a $1500 fine for breaking the immigration law and these people would be put at the back of the line. I don't see how that equates to amnesty.
To: Fabozz
Fabozz, your tax analogy was even better than my speed limit analogy so henceforth I will steal it and use it in my arguments. Brilliant.
To: FredTownWard
You want reality? I wonder. The entire agenda is to get illegals into American voting booths. That's the reality.
You want to compete with the demoncrats in an election when they have 12 million more illegals to stack the deck with? That's the reality. Republicans can never out pander demonrats, that's the reality.
We are heading into a one party socialist system, in fact we are already there, that's the reality.
To: rintense
But what is the plan to go after the illegals who choose NOT to register?I don't think that's an issue to worry about. Not registering would be a violation of the law. Why would immigrants want to violate the law?

You have NO IDEA how thoroughly I can bury your assumptions of Catholicism. You are correct, I have absolutely NO IDEA just what nonsense you are obviously aching to spew.
To: Dan from Michigan
Yep. This is putting a band aid on a gaping wound. Solve the problems at hand now. This proposal doesn't. And of course, there is always the question of, what will it cost????

Here's something I posted on another thread a while back:
"Choosing between Howard Dean and George W. Bush to be President is like choosing between Jeffrey Dahmer and Michael Jackson to babysit your children. Yeah, the better choice is obvious, but you'd be a fool to be happy about it."
