"Speaking of Dexter Manley whatever happened to that guy? I know he couldn't read or write and had a drug problem but I haven't heard him mentioned other than the butt of a joke on the Jim Rome show lately."

Probably hanging with Leon Lett and Michael Irvin. Who else? No, let's see, Bob Hayes is dead, how about Hollywood Henderson?

Should we start in with the drug users on each team? I think I can name as many Redskins as Cowboys. I will name a few Redskins and then we can go from there if that is what you want.

Mike Sellers, Daryl Russell, Lional Dalton, Skip Hicks, Joe Theisman Jr... oh wait that was his son at ND with the Crack.

That is just from the first page of a search. I am sure if you want to come up with names we can do it all day. Drug use by NFL players is just like society. There is always someone that is using them you don't know about. Look at Brett Favre and Rush Limbaugh.

Interesting that you bring up Dexter Manley in relation to the numerous Cowboy druggies [I don't know if you're a Cowboys fan or a Redskins fan, or if you even follow the NFL, so I'm not trying to bust your chops; I'm just spelling out why I feel the way I do about the Cowboys]. The difference in how they were treated is one example of why the Cowboys are truly Satan's Team, the most evil organization in pro sports.

The Redskins don't put up with drug and alcohol abuse. FB Mike Sellers was cut not too long after being arrested for DUI. Tony Peters was cut after his arrest and his attitude showed he wasn't willing to work out his problems. [Sonny Jurgensen and Billy Kilmer never missed a day of practice or a game despite their legendary carousing, so they can't be used as an example of anything other than what many players were like in the '60's and '70's.]

Dexter Manley tried to recover numerous times, and the team helped him with various programs. He was also a person who wanted to help his community, and admitting that he is illiterate was a gutsy thing for him to do. Finally, after the team was exhausted trying to help him, and his physical shape was not up to NFL standards, he was gone. At one point he was in a motel in Houston threatening suicide. Shortly thereafter he was sent to prison, which is about the only place where he could get his act together. I don't know where he is now, but I truly hope he is straight now.

Dallas, on the other hand, has turned a blind eye on numerous drug addicts, as long as they could perform on the field. And this goes back to the days of Landry, not just Johnson. Even though these are adults we're talking about, the franchise should try to interdict and help if possible. Then you have the Michael Irvin's assaulting teammates with knives or razors, the numerous incidents at strip clubs, etc., that happen with more consistency with Cowboy players than any other team.

Throw in the fact that the Cowboys team doctor diagnosed kicker Rafael Septien with a hernia, and Landry and the front office chose not to tell him so they could keep him on the field (and put his very life in jeopardy by doing so), and you can see why I shed no tears when Jerry Jones fired Landry who found out when reporters came knocking on his door. The Dallas Cowboys are an immoral organization. How Roger Staubach was able to stand his tenure there I'll never know.
