"The New Colossus"
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land, Here at our sea-washed, sunset-gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose fame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome, her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin-cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she, With silent lips. "GIVE ME YOUR TIRED, YOUR POOR, YOUR HUDDLED MASSES YEARNING TO BREATHE FREE, THE WRETCHED REFUSE OF YOUR TEEMING SHORE; SEND THESE, THE HOMELESS, TEMPEST-TOST TO ME, I LIFT MY LAMP BESIDE THE GOLDEN DOOR!" November 2, 1883
Emma Lazarus (1849-1887)

Um. Yeah. Right. Immigration is the savior of America.
So in other words, let's just open the borders and allow millions of people from any country, any place, any time, to move to America tomorrow.
After all, if the current rate of unchecked immigration is good for us, then lots and lots of immigration will make us all happy-go-lucky millionaires and philosophers for the rest of our lives.
Gee. I can hardly wait to teach my kids all those new customs. Like how to properly bow to Mecca five times a day, or how to properly gut and cook a wild range zebra without getting blood poisoning.

No we don't. Now we tell them, Stay where you are, we'll ship our jobs to you...
I wonder who signed his check?
