The Democrats must be melancholy with this ruling; however, they have a "Republican" ace in their hole: Sandra Day O'Connor.

Well, one thing is for sure. The 'RATS have TWO hurdles to leap regarding SCOTUS: First, SCOTUS has to take the case. Second, SCOTUS would have to overturn all the good work done by the Legislature making a good map, AND ALL the courts that have upheld it to date.

They may not even agree to take the case. If they do, I surely couldn't imagine them turning it away. Just my opinion.

I haven't heard anything about what the vote was on this ruling yet, but I bet it was 3-0.

It was but Ward was a partial concurring and partial dissent... There's a link up the post to the opinion....

The question yet to be fielded is what will the SCOTUS do in the PA case.... that may still impact this in some manner

I'd say it was 2-1. There were two Republican appointees and one Clinton appointee.
