I was replying to what I thought you said, which was that mass immigration will save Social Security and that if people were made aware of that then they would be less likely to favor immigration reduction. I went on to say that I believe that to be an incorrect view. I went on to point out that you could put the question any number of ways (in a factual manner)and you'd probably get even greater majorities in favor of reduction. As it is, most of the polls I've seen simply ask if you think levels should be decreased, increased, or left as they are. 'Increased' never gets a majority or plurality. 'Left the same' does sometimes, and other times gets a plurality. 'Decreased' usually gets a majority, though will sometimes battle it out with 'left the same' for a plurality.

Now I don't think having majority support automatically makes a position right, but I think its disgraceful the way policy makers just completely ignore the majority sentiment. I also think its disgraceful that the media almost never gives voice to this majority position. Like now with Bush's guest-worker-amnesty-increase in legal immigration bill; no one even bothers mentioning that what Americans really want is given no consideration.

Maybe, but on Clinton's policies. If I remember correctly President Bush was addresssing this issue when Mr. Bin Laden tried to take down our economy. Mr. Clinton did us great harm trying to swell the ranks of illegal voters.

"Terrorist can't do half the damage illegal immigration is doing to our nation."

The "near-term" affects of a terrorist attack is the worst thing that could possibly happen.

The "long-term" affects an illegal immigrant invasion have the potential to do even greater economic and political damage than even say a 9/11.

Stay safe.

"However, what is galling to me is that the issue is being raised with Vicente Fox NOT the American People."

Forget the American people - Mexico printed newspapers detailing the entire immigration reform initiative at least 12 hours before Dubya had his press conference.

We rate.

Thanks for the 411, here in VA, all we ran through our combine was corn and some small grains (rye, oats, and wheat). I figured someone, somewhere, would invent/modify a machine to do the job......the world hasn't seen the last "Cyrus McCormick" yet............
