I hope she doesn't get anything if she's pulling a scam.

I think the recognized winner is telling the truth. The other story just doesn't sound right to me.

I hope these two parties use the good sense that G-d gave them and split the winnings. And may He also smite the fool that turns down $40-$50 million in the name of greed.

If I won 60 million legitimately and some woman is trying to SCAM me out of it -- why would I have the "good senses" to split it with her. Please...

In Massachusetts you could arrange a vendor to play the numbers for you.

That's a big exposure for the lottery commission there, and encourages fraud like this. I wonder if they changed that rule.

AFAIK, a bet slip is just the machine readable form a person uses to select numbers and bet options.

All sets of numbers being played on a lottery ticket are clearly printed on that ticket. Once you see all the numbers, you can then fill in the corresponding cirlces on a bet slip.

She picked the winning 12-18-21-32-46-49 numbers by: One son's b-day is 12/18/03 == 12 - 18 21 for luck == 21 other son is 23 years old (switch 23 -> 32) == 32 sister was born in 1964 (another switch 64 -> 46) == 46 husband turns 49 this year == 49

12 months in a year = 12

18 units in a dozen and half = 18

been collecting welfare since 21 = 21

drinks 1 quart [32 ounces] of beer/day = 32

slept with 46 men = 46

coke makes her look like 49 = 49

ROFL!

No I don't. The only thing I bet on is a silent wager with myself that somewhere, somehow, some lawyer will be spending a large portion of the lottery proceeds in St. Tropez before this is over.

"Why don't they just fingerprint/take a DNA sample of the lady who claimed she lost the ticket, and see if there is any on the ticket? If the current holder is legitimate, she should have no problem with such a test being run, because if the lady is an imposter, she never touched the ticket. Likewise, if the lady's lawyer doesn't ask for such a test, you can rest assured that she is a fraud."

So how would the fraud know the other sets that were on the winning ticket?

An investigation should clear up the entire situation and send her accomplice to jail with her.

She and her husband will relocate all right - before her "random" numbers that she has "played for two years" start getting hungry attorneys curious.

Dumb crooks, but crooks nonetheless.

Also, she knew the timeframe the date the ticket was purchase - this wasn't public knowledge, and it was confirmed by the police who followed up her claims with the Ohio Lottery Commission.

I haven't heard that angle of it. But that could also point to a leak in the Lottery Commission.

I've seen several news reports that, the very next day after a big win, say when and where the lottery tickets were purchased and sometimes if the winning numbers were machine picked or pick-sheet.

This oficars grammr is hrrible.

A lot of it is jargon like "yoa" for "year of age" and such. But give him a break, he was trying to hold back laughter while taking the report.
