You misread the post; Reagan practiced containment which was the general strategy from a geopolitical point of view for the Cold War. Think Persia vs Greece, Macedonia vs Greece, Carthage vs Rome as alternative battle to the deaths.
LBJ fruitless war was an example of utterly failed confrontation.
The Second World War was fought to save Joe Stalin whose agents dominated the FDR administration.
Again, you may have some unlearning to do or you can just keep thinking as the gubmint educators instructed you on what is permissible thought and what is not..

you're talking down to someone who has been kicked out of class because he wouldnt shut up when the "gubmint" schools tried to give the class wrong or debatable information. i would appreciate it if you would not talk down to me as if you had a clue how i think and who i am.
i also understand the practice of containment. the way you worded it though, it seemed you were trying to spin reagan into a liberal. try seperating your thoughts more.

i was sure the whole Japan killing our boys in Hawaii had something to do with it. they tried keeping out of the war for as long as they could as well. now, i may agree that FDR kept our troops from getting to Berlin quicker to allow the Commies time to get there first, but i must disagree that we fought it to save them. we didnt even enter the damn thing for a few years, and Germany was already licking its wounds from its echo of Napoleans biggest boner by the time of the battle of the bulge.
