I never suggested the author was anything but very sincere-- all too sincere. He does not care about socialism and merely supports the GOP because he is looking for a security welfare handout for his home area.
I suggested that he is a phony, which in the context of the article, implied phony Republican-- and I stated my point that I did not feel any relief about the authors context for supporting the liberal agenda of internationalism.

The opinion he expressed with regards to internationalist security is widely held in the GOP. Far from being a phony Republican, his opinion squares with GOP policy well.
