Al-Qaeda 'planning for nuclear attack'

World's most deadly bugs... in the hands of terrorists

It's 1938
Iran Pres: Israel’s destruction near

Benjamin Netanyahu said repeatedly at this luncheon, it's 1938 all over again. And the West gently sleeps. James Baker is now the defacto Secretary of State, bad, very bad. But Israel should be demanding immediate elections. NOW. Building nuclear bomb shelters under their homes is not the answer. Oh and BTW,  Europe, you're next. | Comments (2)

Al-Qaeda to explode 30 jetliners and trains in Europe on Christmas eve

Rosie O: 'Don't fear terrorists, they're just moms and dads'... [ 1, 2 ] -- Honestly, this woman is beyond stupid.

Steyn: "We are all Spaniards Now"

Mark Steyn's  razor sharp analysis on post election America here in the Chicago Sun Times. America! Is anyone listening?

U.S. must  prove it's  a staying   power

We're all infidels, but not all infidels crack the same way. If they'd done a Spain -- blown up a bunch of subway cars in New York or vaporized the Empire State Building -- they'd have re-awoken the primal anger of September 2001. With another mound of corpses piled sky-high, the electorate would have stampeded into the Republican column and demanded the U.S. fly somewhere and bomb someone.

The jihad crowd know that. So instead they employed a craftier strategy. Their view of America is roughly that of the British historian Niall Ferguson -- that the Great Satan is the first superpower with ADHD. They reasoned that if you could subject Americans to the drip-drip-drip of remorseless water torture in the deserts of Mesopotamia -- a couple of deaths here, a market bombing there, cars burning, smoke over the city on the evening news, day after day after day, and ratcheted up a notch or two for the weeks before the election -- you could grind down enough of the electorate and persuade them to vote like Spaniards, without even realizing it. And it worked. You can rationalize what happened on Tuesday in the context of previous sixth-year elections -- 1986, 1958, 1938, yada yada -- but that's not how it was seen around the world, either in the chancelleries of Europe, where they're dancing conga lines, or in the caves of the Hindu Kush, where they would also be dancing conga lines if Mullah Omar hadn't made it a beheading offense. And, as if to confirm that Tuesday wasn't merely 1986 or 1938, the president responded to the results by firing the Cabinet officer most closely identified with the prosecution of the war and replacing him with a man associated with James Baker, Brent Scowcroft and the other "stability" fetishists of the unreal realpolitik crowd.

Whether or not Rumsfeld should have been tossed overboard long ago, he certainly shouldn't have been tossed on Wednesday morning. For one thing, it's a startlingly brazen confirmation of the politicization of the war, and a particularly unworthy one: It's difficult to conceive of any more public diminution of a noble cause than to make its leadership contingent on Lincoln Chafee's Senate seat. The president's firing of Rumsfeld was small and graceless.

Still, we are all Spaniards now. The incoming speaker says Iraq is not a war to be won but a problem to be solved. The incoming defense secretary belongs to a commission charged with doing just that. A nostalgic boomer columnist in the Boston Globe argues that honor requires the United States to "accept defeat," as it did in Vietnam. Didn't work out so swell for the natives, but to hell with them.

What does it mean when the world's hyperpower, responsible for 40 percent of the planet's military spending, decides that it cannot withstand a guerrilla war with historically low casualties against a ragbag of local insurgents and imported terrorists? You can call it "redeployment" or "exit strategy" or "peace with honor" but, by the time it's announced on al-Jazeera, you can pretty much bet that whatever official euphemism was agreed on back in Washington will have been lost in translation. Likewise, when it's announced on "Good Morning Pyongyang" and the Khartoum Network and, come to that, the BBC.

For the rest of the world, the Iraq war isn't about Iraq; it's about America, and American will. I'm told that deep in the bowels of the Pentagon there are strategists wargaming for the big showdown with China circa 2030/2040. Well, it's steady work, I guess. But, as things stand, by the time China's powerful enough to challenge the United States it won't need to. Meanwhile, the guys who are challenging us right now -- in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea and elsewhere -- are regarded by the American electorate like a reality show we're bored with. Sorry, we don't want to stick around to see if we win; we'd rather vote ourselves off the island.

Two weeks ago, you may remember, I reported on a meeting with the president, in which I'd asked him the following: "You say you need to be on the offense all the time and stay on the offense. Isn't the problem that the American people were solidly behind this when you went in and you toppled the Taliban, when you go in and you topple Saddam. But when it just seems to be a kind of thankless semi-colonial policing defensive operation with no end . . . I mean, where is the offense in this?"

On Tuesday, the national security vote evaporated, and, without it, what's left for the GOP? Congressional Republicans wound up running on the worst of all worlds -- big bloated porked-up entitlements-a-go-go government at home and a fainthearted tentative policing operation abroad. As it happens, my new book argues for the opposite: small lean efficient government at home and muscular assertiveness abroad. It does a superb job, if I do say so myself, of connecting war and foreign policy with the domestic issues. Of course, it doesn't have to be that superb if the GOP's incoherent inversion is the only alternative on offer.

As it is, we're in a very dark place right now. It has been a long time since America unambiguously won a war, and to choose to lose Iraq would be an act of such parochial self-indulgence that the American moment would not endure, and would not deserve to. Europe is becoming semi-Muslim, Third World basket-case states are going nuclear, and, for all that 40 percent of planetary military spending, America can't muster the will to take on pipsqueak enemies. We think we can just call off the game early, and go back home and watch TV.

It doesn't work like that. Whatever it started out as, Iraq is a test of American seriousness. And, if the Great Satan can't win in Vietnam or Iraq, where can it win? That's how China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Venezuela and a whole lot of others look at it. "These Colors Don't Run" is a fine T-shirt slogan, but in reality these colors have spent 40 years running from the jungles of Southeast Asia, the helicopters in the Persian desert, the streets of Mogadishu. ... To add the sands of Mesopotamia to the list will be an act of weakness from which America will never recover.

Iran Seeking to Partner With Al-Qaeda in Global Jihad
Iran is trying to form an alliance with al-Qaida by training the next generation of Global Jihad leaders to take over for Osama bin Laden, according to a report by the British Daily Telegraph.

Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran’s nuclear goals, and the fanaticism of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, pose a threat not only to Israel, but to the entire Western world.

The former prime minister compared the growing threat of Iran to the rise of Nazism before World War II, and he wonders why no one seems to be taking the threat seriously.

"It’s 1938, and Iran is Germany,” Netanyahu said, "and Iran is racing to arm itself with atomic bombs.” Haaretz newspaper reports that Netanyahu repeated that line as a chorus during an address Monday to the United Jewish Communities General Assembly. Article here

Sex, Lies and Islamic Jihad

Sandmonkey has part  two of  this awful story here. He writes," I wish I was lying. They seem to be willing to go to any length to stop the public outrage on the eid mass sexual assault."

Oh, and in other news, they blocked one of the best egyptian english blogs in Egypt.

Yesterday was the second sexual harrassment protest in downtown cairo against what went down in the eid incident. And while the first one passed without incident, the police has cracked down on the second one. On my way there I bumped into Sharkawy, who told me that its nearly impossible to get to the protest: State security cars were everywhere, and police agents were blocking anyone from reaching the protest area, so they had to cancel it. The few activists who were there, however, were harassed, beaten up and arrested. Here is a describtion of how the situation was like:

IRAQ: Austin Bay, Prophet

Sagacity is too small a word for Austin Bay. John Podhoretz calls him Austin Bay, Prophet.  Check it out here at NRO

Austin Bay is both a colonel in the Army Reserve and a Columbia Ph.D in English literature — a true Renaissance man and a supporter of the Iraq war before and after. (He was called to serve in Iraq in 2004.) He has an eye-opening column today about the stakes in Iraq during which he quotes a passage from a December 2002 piece he wrote for the Weekly Standard:

"Pity Gen. Tommy Franks or, for that matter, any American military commander tasked with overseeing a post-Saddam Baghdad. For in that amorphous, dicey phase the Pentagon calls 'war termination' ... U.S. and allied forces liberating Iraq will attempt — more or less simultaneously — to end combat operations, cork public passions, disarm Iraqi battalions, bury the dead, generate electricity, pump potable water, bring law out of embittering lawlessness, empty jails of political prisoners, pack jails with criminals, turn armed partisans into peaceful citizens, re-arm local cops who were once enemy infantry, shoot terrorists, thwart chiselers, carpetbaggers and black-marketeers, fix sewers, feed refugees, patch potholes and get trash trucks rolling, and accomplish all this under the lidless gaze of Peter Jennings and Al-Jazeera."

Wow.

Even Wow ain't big enough.

Airport Arrest Turns Up Nuclear Info  Breitbart

A man was arrested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after officials say they found him carrying more than $78,000 in cash and a laptop computer containing information about nuclear materials and cyanide.

Sisayehiticha Dinssa, an unemployed U.S. citizen, was arrested Tuesday after a dog caught the scent of narcotics on cash he was carrying, according to an affidavit filed in court.

When agents asked him if he had any cash to declare, he said he had $18,000, authorities said. But when agents checked his luggage, they found an additional $59,000. When they scrolled through his laptop, they said they found the mysterious files.

At a court hearing Wednesday, Dinssa was ordered held in custody until at least until Monday at the request of prosecutors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonid Feller argued Dinssa was a potential risk to the community and federal agents want to get a warrant to search his computer more thoroughly, The Detroit News reported Thursday. U.S. Magistrate Donald Scheer approved Feller's request to detain him.

Dinssa, who is from Dallas, arrived in Detroit from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam and was headed for Phoenix, Feller said. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, the Detroit Free Press reported.

And the band plays on.

UPDATE: And don't forget those liquid explosives.

Breathtaking short-sightedness. What happens at the end of the 10- to 15-year hudna? The Muslims will fight again to destroy all of Israel, and will be that much stronger because of this. The following is taken with permission from Gerbil Nation resident Syzygy:

Hi Gerbils,

I’m sorry I haven’t been around for the past couple of days, but I think the recent election has affected me more than I was willing to admit.

We lost the House and the Senate. I am more concerned for America than I have ever been before.
I sincerely believe we are in a war. A war between cultures. We face an enemy stuck in the 5th century. And enemy with almost unlimited cash resources. An enemy that wants nothing more than for the world to be subjugated by a religious theocracy. And the Dems, Europe and half of the rest of the world would rather stick their heads in the sand and pretend it’ll all go away if we play nice.

These maniacs want to send their own children to blow up our children and the Dems want us to play nice? Germany and France have troops in Lebanon, standing idly by while Hezbollah rearms and refortifies, yet they’re threatening to shoot down Israeli planes flying recon missions over southern Lebanon.
Police in Paris have to travel in squads because “youths of North African descent” may “express dissatisfaction with their employment opportunities” (read: muslim gangs may torch cars and attack policemen).
A majority of muslims in London indicated that if they knew of a planned terrorist attack they wouldn’t inform the authorities.

The head imam of Australia’s muslim community said that women who went unveiled were “meat” and were asking to be raped.

Muslim fundamentalists throughout Europe and the West are demanding sharia law for muslims. They openly advocate the overthrow of democratic governments in Europe and North America, wanting nothing more than to establish Islamic states in their place.

You think we’re not at war? This is a bigger war than WWI or II. More important than the cold war. This isn’t a war over economic policies or resources. This is a clash of civilizations. A fight between those who want mankind to grow and expand and be free, and those who want mankind forever dominated by ignorance and superstition. Those who want women kept in bondage and men in religious slavery.

And I have the horrible feeling we’re going to stick our heads in the sand along with Europe. We’re going to try to play nice, until they’re at our very door. Until we lose a city to a nuke smuggled in a container ship. Until the Whitehouse gets a letter saying that the 10 largest American cities each have a nuke hidden in them, and that we have 30 days to start withdrawing our forces from the Middle East and abandon Israel, or they’re going to be detonated.

We can either take the fight to them, or they will surely bring the fight to us.
You would imagine that Europe would remember what happens when you appease a madman. You would think they would remember the bombed out cities and destroyed industry and millions dead. But they’ve apparently forgotten the lessons Chamberlain taught the world. “Peace for our time.” Yes, the peace of the grave.

I apologize for rambling like this, but I just had to get it out.

Don’t apologize! I feel the same way and have the same feelings of hopelessness for the world I will leave to my Daughter’s generation, assuming we live long enough for that to matter.

The Enemy Within

The Observer has chilling new details about the airplane bombing plot: Al-Qaeda’s airport bomb plot.

Isn’t it curious how many of these stories revealing details about terrorist plots are being suddenly released—after the US elections? link: 38 comments

The Religion Of Peace Puts Out The Welcome Mat For Bush

November 19th, 2006

From demonstrations in and around Jakarta, Indonesia protesting President Bush’s visit there tomorrow:

In the last photo the slogan next to Osama bin Laden’s pictures says "Kill Bush Get Heaven."

Gee, and only sixty short years ago our soldiers were fighting to keep these people from being enslaved by the Japanese. And then just forty years ago, from the Communists.

How time flies.

Saudis Play Hardball With Blair

Posted in Politics, Islam, WOT, Crime at 8:36 pm by nbpundit

Via Captain’s Quarters:

Tony Blair has been warned by the Saudis to force British investigators to drop a probe into a multimillion-pound slush fund or face the loss of diplomatic relations. The Saudi royal family has also threatened to stop all interagency intelligence cooperation on al-Qaeda and other counterterrorism efforts (via King Banaian):

Not sure why this hasn’t been picked by the media or
most of the blogosphere as this is a huge story.

Democrats Raise $620K for Radical Islam

Democrats, including Minnesota’s Keith Ellison, helped raise more than $620,000 on Saturday for an Islamic supremacist front group: First Muslim Congressman Addresses CAIR Banquet. (Hat tip: Killgore Trout.)link: 27 comments

TIME Cover Story by Muslim Brotherhood Front Man

I continue to be amazed at the depths to which mainstream media will sink in their attempts to shove multiculturalism down America’s throat. The cover story for Time Magazine’s article about the Pope is written by a man who is (rightfully) barred from entering the United States because of numerous well-documented connections to terrorism—Islamic supremacist Tariq Ramadan: And Where He’s Still in the Dark. (Hat tip: Writer Mom.)

The media really loves this guy. His smooth propaganda has been featured in almost every major US newspaper.

European Dhimmitude, or ROP my a$$, report:

Interview With A Swedish Policeman

From the city of Malmö, via Gates of Vienna. 40% of the city's population is immigrant ;

“The number of cases involving rough violence against individuals on public property has risen sharply since the beginning of the ’90s, when I started my work in Malmö. The perpetrators of robbery and bodily harm on public property are almost always immigrant youngsters. This is well-documented, but the authorities responsible prefer not to report it. It would be against the country’s integration propaganda, so they prefer to remain silent.

“The fact that also the number of rapes in Malmö has grown sharply is related to the fact that 40% of Malmö’s inhabitants have a different ethnic background, and where the men’s power over the women is total. Their view of women is so totally alien to us Swedish men, and they continue to live according to their culture without regard to the fact that they are in a different country with different laws. Unfortunately, this attitude is being reinforced by Swedish authorities and courts who show regard for the suspect’s culture when making decisions.”

This police officer confirms also the negative reception which police and emergency services encounter in Malmö’s immigrant suburbs.

“Many immigrants have not the slightest respect for Swedish cops. You’re often treated like a trashman. Immigrants have so far only met representatives of the immigration and social services. They have been treated very friendly and seen all their demands met.

“Certain routine matters, such as a driving license check with an immigrant in Rosengård, get easily out of hand and develop into a major incident, where all patrol cars must intervene to re-establish order. Thanks to cellphones, many ‘supporters’ gather when we intervene in Rosengård. If we stop a car for a routine check, the entire clan shows up to work against the police.

"We are at war and those who warn of its dangers are being systematically silenced by our enemies who demand that nothing get in the way of our complacency with our own destruction"

Here (thanks to Ruth King) is a superb column by Caroline Glick, whom I had the pleasure of meeting several days ago at the Restoration Weekend in Florida. In it, she discusses a few of the superb presentations -- of which there were many.

Says Glick:

If journalists, intellectuals, social critics, authors and concerned citizens throughout the world do not rise up and demand that their governments protect their right to free expression and arrest and punish those who intimidate and trounce that right, one day, years from now, when students of history ask how it came to pass that the Free World willingly enabled its own destruction, they will have to look no further than the contrasting fortunes of Al-Jazeera and Dyab Abou Jahjah on the one hand and Le Figaro and Robert Redeker on the other.

To find out about those contrasting fortunes, read it all.

Outrage of the Day

The State Department is finally taking action in the case of official Alberto Fernandez, who called the United States “arrogant” and “stupid” in an interview with Al Jazeera TV, and also said the US was “trying intentionally to encourage hell in the Arab world.”

They’re giving Fernandez an award. (Hat tip: Starfox5253.)

Remember Alberto Fernandez? The State Department press officer was forced to apologize last month after telling Al Jazeera that the U.S. had shown “arrogance” and “stupidity” in Iraq.

Well after a month of silence, the State Department is finally speaking out on Fernandez — not to condemn him, but to praise his “integrity, courage, [and] sensitivity.”

Fernandez was selected from three department nominees for the Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy by Tufts University... for his work with pan-Arab media ... to increase the number of appearances by U.S. officials.

He receives a certificate signed by Secretary Condoleezza Rice — and $10,000 in cash.

Minneapolis Airport Incident Update

The incident we reported last night, in which 6 Muslim men were removed from a plane at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, seems to have been a false alarm—and the Council on American Islamic Relations is right there, seething and complaining of prejudice: 6 Muslim Imams Removed From Plane, Group Was Saying Evening Prayers Prior To Boarding Plane In Minneapolis.

(AP) The Council on American-Islamic Relations called Tuesday for an investigation into the behavior of airline staff and airport security in the removal of six Muslim scholars from a US Airways flight a day earlier.

A passenger raised concerns about the imams — three of whom said their normal evening prayers in the airport terminal before boarding the Phoenix-bound plane, according to one — through a note passed to a flight attendant, according to Andrea Rader, a spokeswoman for US Airways.

“We are concerned that crew members, passengers and security personnel may have succumbed to fear and prejudice based on stereotyping of Muslims and Islam,” Nihad Awad, the council’s executive director, said in a news release.

The six were returning from a conference in Minneapolis of the North American Imams Federation, said Omar Shahin of Phoenix, president of the group. “They took us off the plane, humiliated us in a very disrespectful way,” Shahin said after the incident.

Shahin said Tuesday that three members of the group prayed in the terminal before the six boarded the plane. They entered individually, except for one member who is blind and needed to be guided, Shahin said. Once on the plane, the six did not sit together, he said. ...

Police were called after the captain and airport security workers asked the men to leave the plane and the men refused, Rader said. Shahin said no one asked the six to leave until police arrived, when the group complied.

“Unfortunately, this is a growing problem of singling out Muslims or people perceived to be Muslims at airports, and it’s one that we’ve been addressing for some time,” council spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said.

Hooper said the meeting drew about 150 imams from all over the country, and that those attending included Rep.-elect Keith Ellison, D-Minn., who just became the first Muslim elected to Congress. Shahin said they went as far as notifying police and the FBI about their meeting in advance.

Shahin expressed frustration that — despite extensive efforts by him and other Muslim leaders since even before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — so many Americans know so little about Islam. “If up to now they don’t know about prayers, this is a real problem,” he said.

Why in the world would Americans be suspicious of Muslims loudly, publicly praying on airplanes? Go figure.

Lileks has an interesting note:

According to the TV, the men said they were in town for “a religious conference.” Interesting. I was talking today with a guy I know; he’d been at a suburban hotel for an annual company sales meeting. The regional manager was having a difficult time speaking, since the party in the next conference room was praying about as loudly as is humanly possible, and had followed the prayers with a speaker who expressed in rather . . . forceful terms the depth of Muslim oppression in America. Unless there are several Muslim religious conferences going on in Minneapolis at the moment, I’d guess that might be the one. If so, I wonder if the reported truculence of the men might have been influenced, or at least reinforced, by the speaker. Whoever he was.

Ellison?

What The Hell Is Going On?

There's an awful lot going no right now, and I have to wonder if it is all related in some specific way.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Al Qaeda is telling their fighters to get out of the Afghan/Waziristanarea and go home quickly.

Al Qaeda is sending British volunteers in Iraq back home.Hizbollah/Syria/Iran is killing Lebanese Ministers.

A Iraqi Sunni cabinent member was almost offed yesterday.

A guy was arrested with plans to attack nuke plants here in the US.

A nuke power plant in Tennesee developed a leak and a city full ofschools was evacuated. It was later called a false alarm.

6 Imams set up a diversionary publicity stunt for CAIR after a get togtether which James Lileks said included anti-American propaganda spouted by a very angry voiced man.

NYC is warning of suicide bombers.

Al Qaeda warned Muslims to get out of the US.

Germany discovered a plot to destroy an El Al plane.

England says they are watching 30 developing plots involving 1600potential terrorist jihadis.

Oh yes, and today George Bush's daughter was robbed in Argentina, and one of her Secret Service people was savagely beaten. This attack is being called a mugging. Hmm.

And, what's up with the White House Staffer getting beaten up outside a Waikiki nightclub last night? His cell phone was also stolen.

Are these things related in some way? What the hell is going on?

Daily Jihad Roundup

In my ongoing dialogue with my man Pastorius, he sums it up nicely this way: here's what I'm seeing:

Al Qaeda is telling their fighters to get out of the Afghan/Waziristan area and go home quickly.

Al Qaeda is sending British volunteers in Iraq back home.

Hizbollah/Syria/Iran is killing Lebanese Ministers

A Iraqi Sunni cabinent member was almost offed yesterday.

There's an awful lot of shit going on at once. And it seems to be constantly accelerating.

Is England Lost?

Allah’s England?

Frightening and important, please read it all.

Flying imams, leaping CAIR

Yes, I've followed the case of the six praying imams removed from a US Airways flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and questioned by police for several hours before being released.

As sure as the rooster crows, CAIR is screaming and the Muslim leaders of the Religion of Perpetual Outrage are calling for a boycott.

Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch notes that "Omar Shahin, one of the imams removed from the plane, has links to Osama bin Laden and Hamas." Power Line has more. Allah has background and Jim Hoft sums it up:

As long as Muslims are trying to explode their shoes on Trans-Atlantic flights, planning to use baby bottles as bombs from London to New York, and smashing jets into skyscrapers, we will see more instances like this one.

The six imams might as well get used to it.

Even as more and more passengers and airlines take reality-based preemptive and precautionary measures to prevent the next 9/11--and even as the headlines bring us daily evidence of al Qaeda's continued airport/airplane terrorist plots--we have a Democratic Congress ready to criminalize airport investigations of any Muslims at any time for any security reasons.

With such staunch Democrat defenders of homeland security like these, beholden to CAIR and political correctness, who needs enemies?

Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region to adopt Sharia law-(ahh the anti hearts and minds)

In the "Yeah, sure, right!" department:

Large Muslim areas 'not breeding grounds for terror'
