[history]
In the three years since I moved to the Bay Area, I have been astounded at the general rudeness of people in the area and, more specifically, the antichildren, antifamily attitude that prevails.
Although I grew up in the Sierra foothills, I had never lived in the Bay Area until my husband and I moved our family from Illinois to the East Bay three years ago. We settled in Oakland, trying to shorten the daily commute into San Francisco as much as possible.

The writer points out the unfortunate nasty little truth about liberals. Many of them (DU anyone?) are seething cauldrons of anger and dissatifaction with their lives and obviously the lives of others. They apparently cannot recognize the fascist, totalitarian streak that is present in liberalism today. That fine-line between the stereotyped warm, fuzzy, bleeding-heart liberal and the out-and-out aggressively, authoritarian far-left radical gets thinner and thinner every day.

"California" isn't defined by the Bay Area.

Bernard Goldberg's book after Bias is Arrogance. In the introduction of Arrogance, he quotes Robert Bork using similar words, "authoritarian liberalism", to describe liberal intolerance and coercian in the newsroom.
And if you spend any time on neutral forums sparring with these folks, or take a few minutes to visit the DUmmies, you see plenty of the "agressive, authoritarian far-left radical", as you put it.

Liberals are not happy unless they are seething....

Several days after Christmas we received a generic peace on earth holiday greeting (Sierra Club card) from my husband's second cousin that lives in the bay area. She's married and has one child--probably will be her only one. When we saw her when she was pregnant she didn't seem to be too happy to be having the baby. I think she said something to the affect that she wanted her body back. I don't know her politics for certain but it's not to hard to guess. She's the type of person that looks like she's just sucked a lemon even when she's supposed to be smiling. Oh the author of this article mentioned the Volvo. Along with the card she sent the newsletter of her previous two years. She finally got her dream car--a new Volvo.

On the bright side, it would seem to imply that most of these foul people aren't reproducing and passing on their genes and their attitude. We can be grateful for such conveniences, although it's difficult waiting for them to die off.

The same can be said about the far-right conservatives.

I've come to realize how rigid many liberals can be in their thinking. This is precisely why I never use the word "liberal" to describe these people anymore. They are anything but liberal in the literal sense of the word, and to call them that gives them the sheen of moral superiority they clearly enjoy but do not deserve.
Far from being liberal, most leftists I know harbor truly fascist tendencies.

> According to the story, Republicans are rare in the Elmwood District. One lady, who grew up in Elmwood and now lives next door to her childhood home, told the Chronicle reporter, "I don't think I know any."
In the Kenwood and Lakes area of Minneapolis, where there are multimillion dollar homes, you see alot of Wellstone lawn signs. You'd think these rich people would be right wingers, but they are libs. Why is that?
To: Fishing-guy
You are correct, but the fact is we conservatives know that there is a fringe element among us that is a little loco. Liberals fail to see the crazy strain among their own numbers. Conservatives realize that we are all highly imperfect creatures. Liberals tend to have a much higher view of themselves that does not square with reality. They're the ones who claim to be the people of compassion and sharing and caring.
But just visit DU to see how compassionate, sharing and caring they actually are. Those people are some of the meanest most spiteful people I've ever seen. If they're warm compassionate bleeding-heart liberals, I'm Howard Dean's pappy.
