See post 17. (Sounds from the article like they're talking about something like M-80's)

Here's a wager for you:
They'll further analyze the "crayons," which appeared to be made of a wax-like material -- as crayons are -- and discover that they in fact were made of a plastique-type explosive.
You heard it first here, along with a repeat of my prediction that Lieberman will be a Republican within three months.......

Smaller than M80's probably just some harmless lady fingers left over from New Years. I doubt if there is really anything to this.

He should NEVER be allowed on another plane!! Obvious he was up to no good.

Now why would Little Joe go and do that?

It would have done more for aircraft safty to shoot the man instead of asking him why and what and whatever, No, no, no
Drug him, interrogate him, and exploit the INTEL. We can always execute him after he is no further use, depending on how the facts develop.
To: U S Army EOD
Well, since the comments I saw were aimed at your ex, I can't imagine what kind of trouble you are in.
And you helped me with some guys on an Intel board who usually don't pay any attention to what I say. Between quoting you and verification of effect by a friend on there, I finally gained credibility. Thanks!
FReepmail me the answer if you don't want to post it on here for all to see!

"three small firecracker-type explosive or incendiary devicesHopefully,Someone is checking inside these to make sure they are what they look like.
A crayon sized piece of modern explosives can still do some pretty good damage to an aircraft in flight.

I'd imagine that even a small incendiary device stowed inside luggage could produce a raging fire in the cargo bay. A bundle of greasy rags wrapped around the device could start an unstoppable fire inside the aircraft at altitude.
Do modern passenger jets even have Halon extinguishers in the cargo compartment?
Our Aerospace Freepers may be able to answer this question.

Are they certain that it was a firecracker and not a blasting cap made to look like a firecracker?

I would be willing to bet it was some left over fireworks from New Years.
