Look, I am sick and tired of the press, the Democrat Party Operatives, and snobby "professors" making all this fuss about the lack of WMDs (so far) and why we went to war with Iraq.

The President's case was strong enough for going to war with Iraq, but there was certainly one reason (legally speaking) for forcing Saddam's hand:

IRAQ WAS IN VIOLATION OF U.N. RESOLUTION 1441.

Now I think the U.N. is as worthless an organization as the PLO, the DNC or the NEA. Maybe even more so. But no one seriously contends that Saddam was abiding by the 12 or 13 resolutions passed against him in 11 years. He was violating the "will" of the world.

He should've been whacked years ago, the pundits said before the war. NOW people like Scott Ritter and Al Sharpton and Howard Dean are saying we shouldn't have gone in. When the President went to war, he justifiably went in for plenty of reasons. But among them was Saddam's willful violation of the U.N. Resolutions he had promised to obey.

So screw you, peaceniks and Democrats and flower children and mainstream press apparatchiks of the liberals. I for one am glad we got that SOB out of power, and I don't think we're finished yet. You people may yearn for more totalitarianism in the Middle East: the people of that region deserve better, though. And it'll make our world and nation a safer place.

Think it was Dean that offered today during 'debate' that we surely were not safer. . .'I mean. . .now we have planes being canceled and the threat of terrorism is at the ORANGE level and people are afraid!.

Wish someone would ask these fools, just what they thought the next act would be against America by these terrorists.

Did they think WTO and Washington's finest was a final act or would have been, if Algore had been in charge and they would have responded with a making of 'nice' while putting anmensia pellets in our drinking water?

There will be more terrorists attacks, no doubt. But the consequences of such are at least guaranteed. . .

Thank God, George Bush has the wisdom to ignore the 'advice & consent' of these demrats; and that our President has enabled our Country and our Military to engage through strength, rather than play from weakness in this battle of 'good vs evil'.

Whether these demrats are dangerously clueless or as more often the case, just have way too much in common with our terrorist enemies; they remain for sure, our homegrown 'enemy within.'

Of course, re the 'thank God; they ARE working on that; and while we do not have 'amnesia pellets' being sread into our water supply; when WAS the last time we saw a replay of September ll?

Totally agree, but what really worries me is where did the stuff we know he had at one time, go?

Or better yet, who has control of it?

I am not worried about the large amounts Sarin, etc, because that stuff is mixed just prior to deployment. As far as I know, we found much of the agents used for that. What I am worried about is the germ lab samples and any other smaller batches of stuff that may have uses without much prep.

Like the potential of a dirty nuke with germ backup.

Bush is in the business of making the World safe for America, not "democracy".

Bush put it quite plainly when he began this war on terrorism. He said he wasn't going to "just kick the can down the road".
He's going to do what he thinks will keep us safe, and he's also said that turning oppressive dictatorships into democracies will help.

We can judge him at the polls in Nov any way we want, but I think that he will still be comfortable that he did his best to protect us.

I am having a bit of difficulty following your logic here. The US went into Iraq because Iraq violated Resolution 1441. The UN disapproved the unilateral action by the US, despite the fact that Resolution 1441 was violated. Therefore, it would seem that our action, unsanctioned by the UN, could not be said to have been in response to a violation of Resolution 1441, unless, of course, the UN is a paper tiger, in which case, Resolution 1441 is meaningless. If so, and I suspect that is true, the US took this step on its own authority and for its own reasons, whatever they may be. If we are big enough to stand up to our decision, we ought to be big enough not to hide behind a paper tiger.

It seems to me that, if you are going to permit a country to act unilaterally against a violation of a UN resolution, you cannot, in good conscience, insist that the violation was a valid reason for the action.

Thanks for the nice words, but I am certainly no longer a Democrat. I registered as an Independent, and just RECENTLY switched back to be a registered DEMOCRAT only because I want to screw with their primary in my state!

I shall rest easier tonight knowing that the Marshall Islands and Latvia are awake. I think you miss my point.

My point was that, you cannot be heard to justify this war on the basis of a UN Resolution that the UN refuses to defend. If every nation in the world had a few people in Iraq, that does not change the reality that we led the charge without UN approval.

I am not saying that our action was wrong. But to justify it on the sole basis of the UN Resolution is to hide behind something for which we had no respect in the first place. If the UN is only a useful tool for US aggression, we then contribute to its impotence if we are heard to justify our actions on the basis of its Resolutions.

That you are not saying the actions of the United States is wrong gives some validity to your comments. I think there is more to this than just 1441, but since that is the focus of this thread and your point of contention with recovering democrat, I offer that the converse is more likely- the United Nations has no respect for itself and in turn shied away from its responsibility to enforce its own resolutions. And rather than hide behind 1441, the United States is cramming it down the throat of saddam hussein and those who side with him.

published by the Press corps that prides itself on
bring you all the news that's important.

Iraq under US lead control has come further in six
months than Germany did in seven years or Japan did in
nine years following WWII. Military deaths from
fanatic Nazi's, and Japanese numbered in the thousands
and continued for over three years after WWII victory
was declared.

It took the US over four months to clear away the twin
tower debris, let alone attempt to build something
else in its place.

Now, take into account that almost every Democrat
leader in the House and Senate has fought President
Bush on every aspect of his handling of this country's
war and the post-war reconstruction; and that they
continue to claim on a daily basis on national TV that
this conflict has been a failure.

Taking everything into consideration, even the
unfortunate loss of our sons and daughters in this
conflict, do you think anyone else in the world could
have accomplished as much as the United States and the
Bush administration in so short a period of time?
