Posted on 01/04/2004 8:00:16 AM PST by nwrep

Fineman: If the military would get Osama bin Laden in its sights, do you think that they should kill him on sight?

I think that is not my call. I'm not going to get into that.

.......

Fineman:Do you see Jesus Christ as the son of God and believe in him as the route to salvation and eternal life?

I certainly see him as the son of God. I think whether I'm saved or not is not gonna be up to me.

"I certainly see him as the son of God. I think whether I'm saved or not is not gonna be up to me".

That's all he needed to say for people to understand how authenic he is...

"Onward, Christian Dior soldier"

ROTFL!

Seriously though, has there ever been a more transparently pathetic panderer than Howard Dean to hit the campaign trail?

I think we are going to need the patience of Job to put up with him until next November.

Dean is like most of the world, he proclaims himself a Christian on the basis of a vague theological association, not by a committment to faith. He is just attempting to clothe himself in a little Christian fashion and sadly that will play with some.

Dean feels like Job? Does he feel like him before or after Job lost his family & his wealth & property?

Not a very wise thing for him to say, and I'm not talking in the political sense. He shouldn't trivialize Job's woes that way. He's tempting God to teach him a painfully clarifying lesson IMHO. I don't agree with the man's politics and find his use of Christianity for votes disgusting, but I hope he never truly experiences even a fraction of Job's suffering. He could not bear it. Not without a real conversion to Christianity, anyway.

"I think we are going to need the patience of Job to put up with him until next November."

Well, yes, in the sense that he attacks the president at every turn and preys on the ignorant (don't they all?), but at least he has entertainment value. Somebody needs to compose a graphic of Dean with both feet stuffed in his mouth.

Speaking of Job, in the NYT today, Dr. Dean says that book was his favorite of the New Testament.

"Asked his favorite New Testament book, Dr. Dean named Job, adding: "But I don't like the way it ends." "Some would argue, you know, in some of the books of the New Testament, the ending of the Book of Job is different," he said. "I think, if I'm not mistaken, there's one book where there's a more optimistic ending, which we believe was tacked on later." Job, the Old Testament story of a righteous man who suffers hardships as a test of his faith, ends with the Lord restoring his fortunes and the protagonist living to be "an old man, and full of days." Some scholars have posited that the original ending may have been more dour. An hour after his comments, Dr. Dean returned to the clutch of reporters, saying he realized he had misspoken because Job is not in the New Testament."

Then later

"Asked again about his favorite part of the New Testament, Dr. Dean said, 'Anything in the Gospels.'"

Nice, nonspecific response there.

(Any of the 5 Gospels? *wink*)

Bump for lying about his knowledge of the Gospels.
He may consider himself a "Christian", but it's no Christianity I ever heard of.

His "temper" is an act.
It is being used vis a vis Clinton to intimidate others. Remember how Georgie used to say how angry Clinton would get so people wouldn't question him (think back to "I did not have sex with that woman"). Presstitutes fell in lockstep because they were scared at daddy yelling at him.

Dean's temper has never been displayed at say a cafe when the coffee was cold, etc.
It's a farce - my opinion is that he is on prescription drugs. His mind confusion, his glassy eyes, the mood swings (not temper).

Satan and the devils know exactly who Jesus is...and what he accomplished at Calvary....

Secular Humanism is modern day idol worship with the self as God...If Dean believes that it is up to him to save himself...then he must believe himself to be equal to Christ...as only the Christ can save a soul from death..

Humanism wishes to replace God (Christ) with man...

I once said, at a bad time in my life, that I felt like
Job. I have since read a little more about Job & repent
in dust & ashes. To begin with, I was not righteous like
Job, not fit to latch his sandals & also hadn't been
through even a smidgen of a smidgen of what he endured.
Dean is appearing somewhat of a jacka**.

I', Feeling Like Job"

He couldn't tie Jobs shoes, does he still think that the book of Job is in the New Testament? Oh that's right he corrected himself.

I think whether I'm saved or not is not gonna be up to me.

It's not up to him, HHHmmmmm then the Bible must be wrong in his eyes, it clearly states that unless you accept Christ as your Savior.
Maybe it's me that is wrong.------------- nope I don't think so, I'll listen to Christ first....

How much you want to bet that he acknowledges Jesus as the Son of God in the sense that we are all children of God? That's my guess.

He's right. It's not up to him. I hope I'm saved but only Christ knows for sure and I'll only know when I die. I know I'm not worthy of redemption. It's a true oxymoron. If I put myself last I will be first. If I know I'm not worthy of saving, I'll be saved. I think it's egotistical to say "I'm going to heaven." I had a cousin who, as a child, when she got mad she would say, "I'm going up there but you're going down there." Lots of people give Christ a bad name.
