Just think, that French trade minister might stay in Washington if Pat Buchanan chooses him for his VP slot.

This author is ignorant. Nowhere in this article of shipping American jobs to India and elsewhere is "quality" mentioned, which is similar to "Das Kapital". Furthermore, because of this, no jobs in America are being created so every other economic argument made is built on a house of cards and easily comes.

You are right, protecting American jobs is patriotic.

It's known as extortion. Since we have had no President or Congress since Reagan with a backbone, we will surrender and abide to the rulings of the WTO and GATT. There are better ways. When you grow up junior, you'll realize that.

So basically, you were wrong. The WTO doesn't have any control over us. It's really just George W. Bush who you hate. Thanks. That's what I thought.

You'll find the Marine in me would eat you alive junior.

Yawn. Timothy McVeigh was in the Army too, you know?

And I wish we still had a draft

Now there's a real "conservative" trait.

It's been wonderful debating a coward like yourself. No go to bed junior, you have to get up at 5 a.m. and break out your subway tokens. Bosses don't like it when their clerks like you show up late for work.

So far all you have proved is that the tariff has a "direct effect" on the steel industry. What you don't realize is that the regardless of the price of foreign steel, some smaller domestic steelmakers made hay and stole business from the importers and the big manufacturers. Once again, you would rather protect foreign interests over our own. Give your buddy Kofi a hug next time you have lunch with him.

"The irony is that the EU trade minister who's been in Washington, meeting with members of Congress about rewriting the export tax credit legislation, is a French Socialist Party member. An affiliation that somehow escapes the attention of the free traitors ."

It's no irony to me. These people would rather let the French influence our world trade policy instead of the old method of bilateral trade negotiations. Our politicians have gotten lazy because the voters like these kids have gotten lazy and stupid also.

Speaking of direct answers, we're all waiting for your answer to #419:

" Have you ever created, purchased or owned a business of your own or in partnership with someone else? This is a yes or no question.

419 posted on 01/04/2004 1:12:53 PM EST by Beck_isright"

We all can not wait to hear about your experience and knowledge about owning and creating a business from scratch.

What I do for a living is none of your business, is not related to "foreign" anything, and is not relevant to our discussion concerning your inability to understand the consequences of a protectionist trade policy.

Hey, at least we don't favor a French trade policy. Right?

Great. Another clerk is preaching to us. Just wonderful.

One more time...more politely this time since it's just a YES or NO question you don't have to disclose anything but your honesty:

"Have you ever created, purchased or owned a business of your own or in partnership with someone else? This is a yes or no question."

Where's the real difference? Giving them the power over your trade policies or adopting them?

Have you noticed how the coward will not answer a yes or no question? It speaks volumes.

No replies yet. Is name character defamation some form of learning technique?

You have an interesting definition of "coward." Apparently a coward is someone who refuses to answer personal questions on the Internet. Well, the answer to your question is yes, but you'll have to troll for a date elsewhere.

Now, back to the matter at hand. Would you care to explain the discrepancy between the following two statements? I'd appreciate more than a yes or no answer, if you're capable.

What is the direct restriction on American business?

I don't know why you directed this comment toward me. Am I engaging in "name character defamation," whatever that might be? If so, please direct me to the comment.

He's really tough. Everyone who understands what the WTO actually does (as opposed to what MoveOn.org and AryanNation.com et al. say it does) is a coward. Yawn...

As explained earlier, that "power" can be ignored. So there is a real difference between yelping about it, and actively promoting it, as our French Marine is doing.
