I was just listening to Cavuto on Fox. The host asked, "Who is better for the economy: Bush or Dean?" Everyone answered Bush was better. Someone chimed in, "If you like Communism, go to Dean."
TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: 2004; communism; dean

"If you like Communism, go to Dean." Well, it is certainly undisputed that Dean has studied more about Communism than any other candidate. Maybe more than any presidential candidate ever.

I think that was Tom Adkins, publisher of commonconservative.com. I went to the site during the show and it looks pretty good and includes FR on a list of recommended conservative sites.
Regards.

Exactly... Bubba was a "hot pink" politician and Hillary, without question is crimson RED.
The reason Bubba wasn't RED was because his Marxism studies came in second to tending to his groin area.

Studying communism and communist countries is not a reliable indicator of communist sympathies. Of course, it probably fits for Dean, but I studied Chinese and Chinese history (including a course called something like "Modern China: The Road to Revolution").
I also studied Classical Chinese, Chinese literature in translation, and lots of Spanish. I studied Latin American Civilization and Culture. I also took excellent Spanish philology and linguistics courses from a downright right-wing freeper-type descended from some very early Spanish settlers. (The greatest professor!! I guess most people have never met a right-wing conservative Spanish Professor.) I did a term paper in high school on a Spanish communist poet, and studied a lot of poetry of the Chilean communist Pablo Neruda. I studied Chinese at Beijing University one summer, spent a summer in Taiwan, lived 9 months in Hong Kong, and traveled to the Soviet Union while it was still firmly communist.
If I didn't mention Taiwan or Hong Kong, many people here would think I must be some commie sympathizer, but I am solidly anti-communist. My impression from visiting the Soviet Union was by no means favorable, and I was rude and clueless enough to say so on a post card from Moscow.
My point is that Dean may be a commie, but do not assume that all people who studied communism or communists or communist countries like communism.
Now if we could just find some more Americans who speak Arabic who are not converts to Islam.

There was a show on Nickelodeon years ago called "Pinky and the Brain" which was, unknown the the station no doubt, an excellent satire of the former first couple. Their plan every day was to "take over the world". The Brain was a mouse with artifically heightened intelligence intent on world domination. Pinky was his happy-go-lucky sidekick. The freeper quiz of the morning is to guess who was Pinky and who was the Brain. First prize is unlimited access to the thinking part of your head.

They are out there, too. In fact I saw something (here I think) on Arabic speaking Jews being turned away by the Gov't as translators. Now, it was only one side of the story, but as given it was very disturbing. Especially since these folks had in depth, idiomatic knowledge of Arabic as spoken in various Middle Eastern countries.
My mother had a master's in spanish, from U. Wisconsin at Madison. I remember her telling me that many Spanish scholars would go on to study Arabic, since Spain was so long under the Moors, have you known any folks like that?

People without jobs tend toward Communism when they lose faith in private industry capitalism. The way to end Dean is through job generation by private industry. Job generation by government is counter-productive to prevent Communism.

I don't know about students of Spanish language going on to study Arabic, but it makes some sense.

Now if we could just find some more Americans who speak Arabic who are not converts to Islam. There are many. Try the Lebanese communities, for starters. Most of them are Christians.
