I thought I'd post this just because it's interesting to learn about what the Democrat establishment is thinking.

Prior to joining FNC, Colgan was a Democratic fundraising and political consultant, and campaign manager for both David Wecht for Pennsylvania's superior court and Catherine Baker Knoll for state treasurer.

Conservatives don't want Guiliani as VP because they don't want him as president in 2008. The guys is as liberal as a republican gets and it would be the end of conservatives if he was elected. I would never vote for him for president. If you guys think Bush is too liberal Guiliani would seem like a die hard conservative compared to Guiliani. And Rice could never be elected president in 2008 because she is black. That's just a fact no matter if you like it or not. Cheney has said he plans to stay on the ticket so I don't know what all the fuss is about anyway.

Normally, I'd agree with you, GSC, as we are both Condi fans. However, I have always believed that Bush presumes that Dean will pull a fast one and, in desperation, put the Queen of Clubs on the ticket with him. Natch, Her Majesty would be more than willing to play Walter Mondale to Howard's Jimmy Carter (circa 1980, of course).

A lot has been invested in Bush-Cheney, I know. And I am of the opinion that "Halliburton" works only in Democratic focus groups, which is why the Talking Head suggested it. But I am also convinced that Cheney is not as well as he appears, which is why, I suspect, Rice is being held in reserve for a massive head fake, one that will be announced BEFORE Dean picks Hilly.

This one move would force Dean to try and trump Rice will Hilly, and thus remain in a rective mode. Forcing Dean to put the Queen of Clubs on the ticket would make Dean look reactive, weak, responding to Bush's initiative, and would leave the swing voters wondering who wore the pants on the Democratic Ticket.

The object of such a move is to make Dean stick with his left wing positions AND come up looking like Hillary's bitch.

Rice will do that for him, which is why you are hearing these rumblings from both Dems and Pubbies. Besides, Condi would more than hold her own in a debate with Her Hinie.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Cheney has no intention of becoming President so, for the good of the party, he will either run again on the 2004 ticket and resign mid-term or he will be replaced totally. Whoever is VP in 2008 will be the next Republican nominee.

We have no idea about Rice as a campaigner and there is a danger that she could say something that might embarrass the ticket. She'd have to survive one VP debate, for example.

Bring it on. Condi would devastate any RAT competitor as completely as Cheney did, or would in the future.

Can you imagine Condi against hillary!, or any other RAT they could offer?????

Because a pro-Abortion Black woman can't be elected in this country. You guys are kidding yourselves if you think that. We need a true conservative for president and not these people you guys keep naming like Powell, Rice, and Guiliani. How about Tancredo(Spelling) for VP???

We need a white male to run for president in 2008. Just because we have come along way in equality doesn't mean that Americans are going to vote for Women or blacks. Just because you think they should doesn't mean they will. I don't think a black person or a woman(including Hillary) can be elected in the near future. People are use to white male presidents and it's going to be hard for some to vote for anything but that.

If those candidates are the top items on her resume, this woman is definately a political minor leaguer --- more like instructional league. Knoll is now Fast Eddie Rendell's Lt. Governor and he has to keep her locked in a closet to keep her from making stupid statements to the press. Rendell didn't pick her and all but said he didn't want her, but of the dems running in the primary for Lt. Gov., she was the only one with any name recognition. Even Rendell's enemies are trying to get him to cut back on the Philly cheesesteaks out of fear that this moron is only a blocked artery away from being governor.

It's news in the sense that I had figured that we'd gone beyond the go-no go point, but some here at FR and the Dem establishment are still thinking Cheney could end up off the ballot in November. The Dems are undoubtedly wasting resources in trying to plan for the event of a Cheney pull-out. I think it's ridiculous and so hilarious that the Dems are wasting resources in such a way.

I won't comment on your assessment of Condi's resume as "weak". That comment was silly on its face. I will tell you that Jeb cannot run with George, and no one cares about Sanford or Pawlenty. I'm waiting for one of the Goobers to mention Alan Keyes, now that you've brought Sanford and Pawlenty up.

I should also tell you something else. Putting Condi on the ticket would do two things: trump a Dean selection of Her Heinie and appeal to white and Hispanic working women. Condi is NOT designed to appeal to black voters. Too many black voters think of "Condi" and "race traitor" in the same thought process. Unfortunately, the black political community in this country thinks that people like Mary Frances Berry and Aaron McGruder are the epitomes of reason. She could bump Bush above the 15 percent level in the black community, however, which would be an electoral catastrophe for the Dems.

So the Usual Suspects scream "Uncle Tom". So f*%king what? They weren't going to vote for Bush anyway. The white and Hispanic swing voters will, however. And Condi will let the air out of the Hillary for VP balloon real fast, something that the Democratic Party's prison bitches in the media will be pumping up once Dean locks up the nomination.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Tom "Aren't These Colors Cool?" Ridge? Give me a break. That's a silly idea. He adds nothing to the ticket that President Bush needs.

I didn't post it as a debate topic. I just thought it was odd that just a few months before the NYC Convention that a member of the Dem establishment is worrying about Cheney pulling out and that they are presumably coming up with a plan in the event of such a move.

How about Tancredo(Spelling) for VP???

You know that would never fly. We need conservatives who don't appear threatening. Tancredo makes a living out of appearing threatening. Stay positive, and say it with a smile, that's what Ronnie taught us. There are several conservative governors who would be excellent nominees or veeps in 2008: Jeb, Tim Pawlenty in Minn, Mark Sanford in SCarolina, Craig Benson in NewHam, even Don Carcieri in Rhode Island.

And then of course there are the Pataki, Romney, and Ehrlich moderates . . .

If Cheney drops off the ticket because of health concerns, the best replacement would be the President's heir apparent for the 2008 election.

That would be Tom Ridge, a man of impeccable character, a Viet Nam vet, and the best man to step into the shoes of a commander-in-chief fully experienced in the war against the terrorists.

LMAO! If thats the case...we'd better find somebody else. When I see Ridge I'm thiking Bob Dole Part Deux.
