I personally do not agree, but even if it were true, I would regard it as a personal immorality, and not a matter of state. Just as, for example, we don't prosecute people for adultary, although some criminal statutes against adultary remain on the books.

I don't want to be condescending, and I'm not saying you're position is irrational. One matter that does concern me is not homosexual marriage as such, but one consequence: the increase in homosexual adoption. Whatever one's views on whether or not homosexuality is sinful, I think it is the case that kids who don't have a mother and a father have a lessor shot at a fulfilling life.

Anyway - I'm going to cut out the cheep shots from here on in, and wish you a happy new year.

I appreciate that. Here is why I consider Shay's behavior relevant: he is in a prominent position of power as member of Congress, including legislation, the power of the purse, and decisions that affect all Americans. You mention adoption of children by homoesexual men and women--perfect case in point of an issue that Congress will deal with.

I do not buy the argument that you separate the "private" from the "public" life. Clinton sold this snake oil to millions and it was a recipe for a poisoned stew. Today, many of people have been deluded into thinking that homosexuality is not destructive behavior, or even that it affects others. That is misguided, but to think that as a member of Congress his behavior has no bearing on his decisions is madness. If Shays were a chronic alcoholic and tried that defense, he would not convince the majority of Americans.

I too have my sins, and they are not pretty. But I accept my responsibility for them, and ask the Almighty for His mercy. Shays leads a double life, and someday he will be faced with the consequences of his actions if he does not turn around.
