The Democrats still don't get it. The party that has dominated the American landscape from the time FDR swept to power in 1932 has careened into near oblivion ever since William Jefferson Clinton took the oath of office in 1992.
The first domino to fall was the Congress, which fell to the Republicans in 1994.
And since then, state by state, the union is looking more red than blue, more Reagan Republican than Clinton Democrat.
Recently, State Legislatures Magazine reported that the 2003 elections brought only a few changes to the color-coded maps showing partisan control of legislatures and governors' offices.
Democrats scored victories in New Jersey by seizing the Legislature and in Louisiana by winning the governor's office.
Republicans captured governors' seats in California, Kentucky and Mississippi, boosting their advantage 28 to 22.
Legislative elections in Virginia, Mississippi and Louisiana did not change party control.
Republicans continue to control more legislatures than Democrats, by a 21-17 margin. Eleven states are split between the two parties. (Nebraska legislators are chosen in nonpartisan elections.)
In 29 states, government is divided between the two major political parties. In 12 states, Republicans hold all the cards.
In eight states, the Democrats control both the governor's office and legislature.

And now that the Democrats have sided with the likes of France and Germany, as well as politicizing the War in Iraq, Making every effort to undermine our President in a time of War, Democrats like Jim McDermott calling the President a liar on Iraqi soil, and the Democrats on the Senate Intel Committee puting politics above our National Security,.... They will pay for these actions next November

Didn't Harry Browne write a book about how Clinton's presidency (such as it was) would be the last Dem. presidency for a long time? Back before the '96 elections?

I couldn't agree more. I think the treatment of Bush by the democrats is going to bite them big time .. at least I hope the public is smart enough to figure it out.

45 years ago the Liberals took control of this country one step at a time, Since the mid nineties we are taking this country back. But we must keep in mind that we will have to take this country back the same way we lost it.... One step at a time.
If we insist our Representatives go far to the right before the liberals have been shown to be the fools they are, we will lose the momentum we have right now. The fact is that we will have to compromise on some issues in order to change the general direction of the country. We live in a country split 50/50 between Dem's & Repubs, to demand we get every conservative wish granted by this Congress or President, is a recipe for failure and the Liberals will regain power

If we insist our Representatives go far to the right...You are correct and it's disappointing that so many here fail to see that. It sometimes takes patience and purseverence, in addition to determination to make thing happen they way we want them to.

If the country is now supporting Conservatives why are we acting like liberals? Do we show people the difference between us and the liberals or by acting like the lib's are we not confusing people. I am a Conservative but it looks to me like the republicans are acting the way the democrats used to and the democrats have gone socialist liberal. Where are the Conservatives? The people favor controlling the borders, they want to save marriage and they don't like being told what to do by out of control judges. So again why are we acting like democrats and supporting their agenda. They loose we win and yet the people get more of the same thing, why is their not a change. Bush is correct internationally but why is he scarred of the judges?

Yep. The Democrat party needs to go the way of the Whigs or into the marginal fringes of the Greens. Then it is time for the Libertarians to rise up and take on the Republicans. This would be the ideal contest-- no socialism at all vs. socialism-lite.

Then it is time for the Libertarians to rise up...The Libertarians are out of style....thay failed to make any progress. The Constitution Party is now the latest craze for disgruntled conservatives.

I actually think it will go the other way where the Republicans start to disappear. It happened in Canada when the Progressive Conservatives leaned too far to the left. The left will always be there but there seems to be a trend in politics worldwide for parties to take right wing voters for granted.

I'm not going to be happy until the Dems take their place beside the Whigs in the pantheon of extinct political parties in this country.

The Libertarians are out of style....they failed to make any progress. The Constitution Party is now the latest craze for disgruntled conservatives They may be the only party to actually get fewer votes than the libertarians. I have often said, half-jokingly, that the problem with the LP is that anarchists have a hard time organizing because they have a problem with authority...

If the country is now supporting Conservatives...I see more support for the GOP, but I don't know if it necessarily means more support for conservatives, unfortunately.
Bush is correct internationally but why is he scarred of the judges?
I don't know what that means.
