That's good. It kind of scared me. I got a "what did you do? Call FR and tell them what you were doing at the time". All I did was try to post. I was freaking out. My husband asked me what was wrong. I told him the computer is accusing me of shutting FR down. He almost fell out of his chair laughing.

We had not eaten tamales before we moved to S TX. I came home from work one day and my son told me he had eaten some. He told me the filling was really good but the skin was just too tough to chew:')

anny, I made navy bean soup out of the Christmas eve ham bone. Yummmmmm!
And then I made a beef soup out of the leftover standing rib roast. OMG! Was it ever good. Been eating it for several days. It just gets better. I think the magic ingredient was the leftover twice baked potatoes. Mmmmmmm.................

We snack on things like: pizza rolls, chips and chili cheese dip, vegie tray with ranch dip, cottage cheese and tomatoes, apples, oranges, bananas, crackers with meat and cheese, chicken strips, etc...

On New Year's Day, I cook NOTHING! Tradition calls for the men in the family to do all of the cooking.

You ought to hear them howl when they miss a play. You see, football games reign supreme around here on New Year's Day and on every dang Sunday as well.

You're right! I made the best (I mean BEST!) navy bean soup last year with the hambone from Christmas. The kids still beg for it, but, alas, since Grandpa only sends ham at Christmas, they have had to suffer (not) through pale imitations.

LOL! It's usally fried chicken, beer, potato salad, beer, greens and more beer. Hard to ruin that stuff or to know the difference. :)

I've been indoctrinated to believe that black-eyed peas are essential cuisine on New Years Day. It's supposed to bring good luck. I've not had the nerve to test the validity of this claim - I can't imagine what BAD luck might have been like this year - so I'm making a giant pot of the beans as we speak. As far as I know all other foods are optional.
