It's sad that some obvious thugs took a couple of innocent young ladies to the celestial dirt nap, but for the first few days after this incident, all the local media was hyping that "the po-lice chased these babies to their deaths!". Stolen car, robbery perp, donut on tire and/or alcohol involved. Mix throughly and you get a.... say it with me now folks... LAWSUIT against the city of Troutman! You know it's coming...

Not to mention that all the deceased were black.

I can't help but wonder whether or not whatever settlement amount might be arrived at will be more or less than the government would have expended on them during the course of their lives had they lived.

The seventh was formerly a student at Statesville High.

Is this the PC way of saying "DROPOUT"?

No sympathy for any of them. Those girls knew that car was stolen just as they knew the guys they were hanging out with were thugs.

They made their choice when they got in the car.

Seven dead both criminals and future criminals. Nothing more.

Has Jesse Jackson showed up in Troutman yet?

The Rev. Al has stolen his thunder on the front pages and JJ really needs to do something about it soon.

Don't forget the owner of the car. Plus the deep pockets of Chrysler. They'll all get sued.

"innocent young ladies" don't hang out with thugs.

They certainly were enjoying the spoils of these miscreants crime spree.

Good riddance to the lot of 'em.

Just think how much the good people of N.C. just saved on housing these animals in prison.

Huh? Because they're girls, they're obviously "innocent"? These girls knew perfectly well that they were getting into a stolen car driven by an unlicensed driver. They most likely knew about the armed robbery too.

The media and other liberal critics need to understand that the teens were responsible for their own deaths. The police were doing their job as they were supposed to be. The teens made some poor decisions and frankly killed themselves.

And there NEEDS to be a lawsuit - just having "Do not exceed 40MPH" stamped on the spare tire is not enough - the tire should have a safety device that prevents the vehicle from exceeding 40MPH dammit. </sarcasm

Why can't they just admit teenagers do stupid things? Yes, I know....because there might be money in it for them.

Last year a car full of teenage girls from my town crashed. Two of them died. One of the survivors said that they were trying to switch drivers while traveling 80 mph down the freeway. (They had slowed from 100 mph for this manuever.) She said they had done that successfully before. Relatives of the other kids in the car tried to keep her from telling the truth. They wanted to hide the fact that the girls caused the crash themselves by doing something so incredibly stupid.

The whole episode is Darwinian on a geometrically progressive scale.
