"Intercepted" is the correct word. What happens after they intercept is either they escort them in, let them go their own way, or splash them all over the countryside.

Well, I understand the meaning of words and what the implication was of the title and the barest of details from the poster. Then right at #22 he says he's just mentioning that they've been doing it for days for the Air France flights, so it was hardly a case of this flight being special. So while I agree they technically intercepted, in that they didn't escort the thing from Paris, it was not a unique event.
