If you scan through the 500+ posts, it appears we scrambled F-16s to intercepts an AFA flight from CDG to LAX. Freepers were onto it real-time, and (thankfully) it all ended without incident. We're now waiting to see if there are media reports of authorities arresting someone/some people from that flight......

I hand-built my first, a COSMAC ELF, from Radio Electronics magazine. Smoked it on the first power up. $350 worth of smoke. Then got one of the first 500 TRS-80 model, level 1 computers. The one with the fast-blow fuse potted in the power supply.

One of the first computers I used was a WANG...back in late 70's, I think.

I had one of those!! I had completely forgotten about that thing!! Was my first taste of programing...back when I was 9 years old. Luckily...I'm doing the same thing for a living now...only on a little bit more powerful machines LOL! Was the best $100 educational investment my father ever made.

I had one of those! It was very disappointing, I couldn't get it to talk, or much of anything else. ;)

The plane landed at LAX, around 5:44 p.m. local time, instead of the scheduled arrival time of about 4:05 p.m. Several FReepers heard/saw the F-16's overhead.

'Escorted' would be a better word. When the shuttle (jeeze, I forgot the name) came in for its landing, a very similar thread was started. FR scooped every media source that sad day.You bet "escorted" would have been better, since it would have been accurate.
I think this title was extremely misleading and in no way compares to the shuttle thread. No way.

I was eleven or twelve.
I vaguely remember programming it... very fond memories.
Upgraded to a Commodore and an Apple IIe shortly afterwards... Loved the Commodore. Never quite got that good with the Apple (It was my dad's "business" computer)...
What a great stroll through memory lane.

We live in the panhandle - you should come back for a visit! You'll be shocked at the growth heading towards Panama City Beach! (Gorgiboy's wife)
