John McWhorter, A Remarkable Man

Dr. John H. McWhorter...was on FoxNews this afternoon speaking about Micheal Jackson. A fine interview, McWhorter detailed the failed individual responsibility of Jackson, commenting that he was as white as modern cosmetic surgery could make him...also that the alledged connections to the Nation of Islam cannot help Jackson in the least and will actually hurt him. He also said Jackson needs to step up and start being a real person again...

I have seen other interviews given by McWhorter. He always speaks with astonishing clarity and has an insite into the modern social-race issues that is always right on the button. Check out the website and you can read some of his columns. He is also a prodigious author, books that simply do not get ANY widespread recognition.

Simply put, Dr. McWhorter should be recognized as a real leader in America...in my opinion of course...what do you think?

Jackson's supossed connections to Islam are as fake as the rest of him. In the 60 Minutes interview he made a reference to Jesus. Just how does Jesus fit into Islam?

Good for you Grrrrr, I suppose this means that you know the meaning of the word "antedeluvian."

Ole me, I had to look it up. Not to boast, but when a speaker uses a word in extemperaneous speech that I have to look up in the dictionary...well I consider the speaker to be unclear.

Otherwise, I agree with you completely.

Let's see, Michael was once a Jehovah's Witness, then he confided in a Rabbi after the first "incident" with a young boy (the one he paid off). Now he's becoming a member of the Muslim Nation.

It looks like he shops for religion the way some people shop for the latest fads in clothing, etc.

yeah, he uses some twenty-five cent words, but as Rush says, "Words mean things", and when he uses a specific word like that or "nihalistic", it imparts even more meaning to what he says.

In his article about how HipHop is ruining the black culture, he ends his piece with another short anecdote: Rapper in the subway at 2am making a general nuisance...and nobody objects or tries to stop him. My thought is, "Of course not, no one would try to stop the rappin' thug since you would wind up being beaten, stabbed or shot"...is this a stereotypical response on my part?

If you see a group of teenagers causing a ruckus on the subway, would you step up and say something or not? Is it because of race or fear?

Thanks for the great link. McWhorter is a young (i.e., under 40) black man who really IS brilliant, but gets ignored by today's black AA "geniuses." His race commentary sparkles; he gave an absolutely brilliant public lecture on so-called ebonics back in '97 that blew away all the pseudo-African frauds, yet was not published in any of the books on the "Ebonics Debate"; and is a real linguist (including the study of many languages and dialects), as opposed to the many vocal professors of linguistics who simply take Chomsky's theory (which has nothing to do with the study of languages) and Chomsky's politics, and ignore the study of languages and dialects.
